Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
Hello Misterrogers, I have a question for the 'Tube Wizard'. I just received (from eBay) 5 Brimar ECC88 tubes that have a Foreign BVA stamp. They all have the duel getter support with the flying saucer getter typical of the Russian Mil. Spec. 6N1P and 6N23P. I've been searching the web to...- Locknar

Time for "Game of Thrones" season 2 premier
Quote: I think ex-porn star is perfectly sufficient. There has and always will be a demand for women who will bang for money (especially from the self-righteous, women hating type), which is why it is the world's oldest profession. No need to be angry or abusive towards them. And...- Locknar

HBO's "Game of Thrones"
Quote: Boy do I wish I could do that. This is one of the best shows ever. They should have made this episode 2 hrs. It was over way too fast. Though the production cost on this thing must be astronomical... still should have been 2 hrs. 'Till next week.- Locknar

Official Team BEER-FI (Beer Appreciation Thread!)
You're not missing a whole lot... your beers are much better. We have some good ones, but none (that I've tried) really measure up to the best of the Belgian and German beers IMO. I'm not sure what being a pita is... but I was just breakin' balls. You are certainly qualified to know that...- Locknar

I've been all about the Belgian beers lately. Quality > Quantity! My current favorite is La Fin Du Monde (The End Of The World). Great beer (9%) and great name for a band. J- Locknar

Did the Schiit Lyr Blow out my Headphone Driver?
Quote: Bummer, you definitely seem to have a bad driver. It sounds like your Lyr has the relay mute so that should never have happened. You might want to contact Schiit regarding this issue. Going forward I would say follow the aforementioned procedure for connect/disconnect and remind...- Locknar

Did the Schiit Lyr Blow out my Headphone Driver?
I had read about this in another thread regarding driver damage while using the Asgard (pre-relay version). So before hooking up my HD650 to the Lyr I decided to contact Schiit about the proper procedure for connecting/disconnecting my cans. I also gave them the serial # of my Lyr to see if they...- Locknar

Sorry hodgjy! Seems I may have derailed your thread before it's had a chance with all the Onkyo talk. So back on track... I'm a Schiit lover. Especially my Schiit (the Lyr). To my ears, it's a killer amp. It's also really cool looking and very affordable considering the quality construction and...- Locknar

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
I have a general tube question. Is it uncommon for a halo getter to be bent down? Would this be considered a defect? I just received a pair of '59 Mullards and the getter is clearly bent (tilting) down. Other than that they are in really good shape with a near perfect silkscreen. I bought them...- Locknar

Quote: That's the rub I think "better players costing quite a bit more". If I haven't heard them then I don't know what I'm missing. I'm not one to lay down a 100%-1000% more money for slight to moderate improvements. I'm more than happy with "mid-fi"... unless of course I find myself...- Locknar

Nice! Thanks for the impressions. I too bought the Onkyo primarily for redbook playback and from the reviews, the overwhelming consensus seems to be that filter 4 is the sweet spot. Of course I will try them all to judge for myself, but it's nice to hear from a fellow headphone and Schiit (ha...- Locknar

...but will be hooking it up as soon as my new office/listening room is set up. I just went on a tube buying bonanza that included '59 Mullards/Matsu****as/'62 Bugle Boys (small getter)/70's Siemens/GE "Smokies" and the above '59 RCA's. I'm excited to start rollin'. My Schiit Lyr with NOVIB 9 pin socket saver with damping base

My Schiit Lyr with NOVIB 9 pin socket saver with damping base
Hi J&J, I just ordered a couple of these from Tubemonger. Any issues to report since starting this thread? Have you tried listening without them and then popping 'em in to see if you could detect any sonic differences? Were they hard to insert? I guess I'll be finding out myself soon...- Locknar
