I never had any of these issues with my Lyrs. 8 hz ok, 7 hz not ok? What music doe we have thats below 8 hz? What instrument? This for me is a non issue... Alex

One thing in this hobby, you can listen to something and because its new and "different" your brain is going to most likely catalog this experience as as good one or not so good one. Then after several weeks you change to another setup and wham this is different and wow is this good etc...then...

I have both side by side here. With Vali 3, I was going to sell the Vali 2. But....the two are so different at times. Still have both. The disease of playing with tubes, both supported and via adapters is almost endless. Another part of the hobby that is really interesting IMO. No one flavor...

Agree, but a lot of us have gone thru all that gorp... What I should have said is try a Schiit Vali 3 and still keep your Midgard.. You will have the best of both worlds so to speak. A really decent hybrid tube amp design to play with tubes! Tons of fun! Alex

For the price this is the gold standard of discrete headphone amps IMO. A steal at the $219 price. Jasons best to date amp for cans. IMO. Alex

Gosh this has been a lot of fun so far... I ordered a adapter to try 6CG7's in Vali 3, they work w/out an adapter in Vali2+. Also 6BQ7's work in the Vali 2+. Love the 12AU7 variants in Vali 3...and look forward to playing!! Thanks much Tom! Alex

Well this was an easy one for tube comparos...the stock 63NP compared to a Raytheon CK 5670WA. No brainer, amazingly stark difference here.. Raytheon beats the pants out of the stock tube.. Like a muffler was removed.. Another decent 5670 type... Alex For you knob folks! My knob isnt as manly...

Yup...THe MHDT guy put it in his second tier..but I agree its really a good tube as well.. Ha! Dont think I ever met a tube I didnt like! Often shades of grey here for me.. Old BH "Doc" often stated its the "circuit" (expletives) vs the tube... Different strokes etc.. I just love tubes as well...

Next up is a Tung Sol 2C51. Finding I am preferring the LOW gain of the Vali 3 over the high gain.... Vol pot is a mid level in LOW gain position. VS the HIGH gain vol pot position barely gets off the bottom of the pot. Alex

Examing the two variants the internals look very similar. Both tubes are excellent here to my ears. Blind testing would be a 50/50 hit here. My subjective self likes the 5 star better. Why? Honestly who really knows...LOL! For those inquiring minds...
