Impressions | aune AR5000 Full-Size Open Headphones with MLD Driver

Anyone in Munich this weekend? I heard through the grapevine that Aune will reveal their first closed back circum aurals there! ...would be awesome if someone could report on it :beerchug: . EDIT: Ah, it's already official, the new closed back is called SR7000. ..lol, and there's a picture of...

Songs that make your headphone WOOOOOW!!!

IMHO one of the best test tracks if you're looking to evaluate your headphones for micro detail representation in bass strings:

Impressions | aune AR5000 Full-Size Open Headphones with MLD Driver

I didn't even know that Aune has an extra 4.4 balanced cable for the AR5000 (it comes only with a fixed 3.5mm termination but still nice cable). The guy I talked on the phone when I ordered and wanted to ask for the headphone stand, offered it to me for 45'ish. He said it's so new, it's not yet...

Eversolo DMP-A8 Streamer, DAP, DAC and Preamp

Can it be that if from Eversolo's side all is fulfilled since actually quite some time, and everyone is waiting for Roon (Harman International) to act accordingly and give the certification, that Roon is slowing down the process intentionally? If so, why? I guess that Eversolo was hoping to...

Eversolo DMP-A8 Streamer, DAP, DAC and Preamp

Don't bother with an external HDD if you have the option of mounting an internal nvme. I'd go for one of the best 4TB budget nvme's out there at the moment: Crucial P3 4TB Yes, it will cost you "only" about 90 bucks more than your external HDD suggestion, but nvme is totally silent and its also...

    DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread

Just unpacked my SA6 MkII yesterday and I am only about 10 hours or so in... Oh god, already I can say that the analog-like quality, musicality & tonality, especially with everything string based, is an outright pleasure. I like this tuning a lot for classical music and Jazz. Sure, MkII have no...

Reply to review by 'droid23' on item 'DUNU Studio SA6 MK2'

What most fascinates me is the effortless near analog sounding tonality and musicality when listening to string quartets e.g. Haydn. Yes yes, the MkII are a very nice pair of IEMs overall and play well in their price range, but strings with the MkII blew me totally away.. oh man, good investment...

    DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread

Regarding sibilance and it's typical s and sh prominence: let's not forget that this is pretty much an absolutely normal and natural phenomenon in people's voices. Some have it more (statistically more women since their vocal frequency range is naturally higher than in men; 5-8 kHz vs 3-6 kHz)...

Oh, and tbh, I definitely wouldn't skip the Glacier for that reason because to my knowledge the Glacier isn't a collab product... maybe you mixed that up with the DaVinci? Nevertheless, the Glacier is quite high on my painful-to-acquire-but-still-wanna-have list

    DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread

I fully understand your thread of thought. I also think that's mostly just marketing bla bla, but what these collaborators mostly do is giving feedback to the engineers on what they think is a "trendy" crowd-pleasing tuning. Sometimes they also have influence on packed accessories and color...

It seems so if you follow the switch settings "logic" 🤷‍♂️ ...and the quotation marks are definitely intentional. KZ seems to have decided to ship the Pro 2 with the most "consumer friendly" tuning a la beats, Bose, and Sony  I still don't get that this YT reviewer gets...

No, that's unfortunately not correct. The UUUU setting is not explained anywhere on the official KZ page. Only the guy from Prime Audio Reviews was measuring UUUU and he shows that in this graph. (if you look closely, you can see 5 distinctively different bass response curves in his...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Just found Prime Audio Reviews YT video on the KZ ZS10 Pro 2 and his own measured FQ response curve gives us a hint what [UUUU] does... see the Red line: UUUU seems to give even more bass than KZ is showing us on their official homepage. He doesn't go into too much detail with the other...

Wow, then even more so it would be interesting how it compares to the mid-range bestseller, the SA6 MkII which is nearly double the asking price. Thanks @pevinkarker !

    DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread

Sorry to stress this here, but I guess tha DaVinci should be price wise around the midrange (400-600$) or? ...and if so, how would it's sound signature compare to the SA6 MkII ?

Listened yesterday to the ZS10 Pro 2 and here are some quick first impressions: Source: iBasso DX260, High gain, fast roll l-off, all Hi-Res tracks between FLAC 48, 96, 192, and some DSD's.... and some tip-rolling. I was really impressed what they delivered at this price point! Ended up with...

    Best IEM tips?

Yesterday I tried the Linsoul Tangzu Tang Sancai Wide Bore tips in different sizes from S to L and none of them did fit. They have a special textured surface and rather this is the reason they didn't build up enough friction in the ear canal and they constantly fell out. The shape would be nice...

    Best IEM tips?

Got them today... and I stand corected, holy cow, I used them with my Sigmot EM6L (for now) but man, the sound opens up quite drastically with them compared to the original tips or the FA Type-E (both narrow bore). It nearly feels like another IEM now... really, can that be so drastic? (okok...

...extended and natural frequency response in a DAC system. Yes, optically, if you look what D1 does, it looks like there's some pre- and post ringing*. Believe me, this type of "ringing" is, since many years of DAC/DAP development, a thing of the past and no longer audible... not with the best...

Even though the overall impressions of Sandu were quite tempting on the M23 and I personally am going to listen to it hopefully soon, but as anticipated by others already, it tends to be a bit on the warm side. Still, I find the M23 an interesting contender. Here's Sandu's review of the M23...

There's never a final answer of course, but to me it sounds that the DX260 ticks most of your boxes at the moment... until you change a requirement or you're willing to spend more. As I said, you can't do wrong with the 260.
