Schiit Mjolnir 3 - Impressions Thread
I know many have praised the treble quality of the MIB version, so I imagine it’s a great pairing with the MJ3. I certainly have no complaints with my A2 either. It all comes down to synergy and personal preferences in the end though, so there’s no wrong answer. For some, the LIM may very well...- ckhirnigs113

@zach915m Is the release discount on the Aegis going to be equal to the bundle discount moving forward for those of us who’ve recently bought a new set of headphones from you? I don’t have the money together yet for the initial Aegis release, so if I were to buy one a few months from now I was...- ckhirnigs113

My Atrium Closed sounds great with the MJ3 in my setup, though I might just prefer it with my SW51+ tube amp despite it being much cheaper. I got to try the Atrium Open last year for a week, but unfortunately it was before I had the MJ3.- ckhirnigs113

I assume you guys have compared using the RCA outs from your Yggy to using the balanced out converted to SE with these external transformers. Was it a clear improvement or just a change in flavor?- ckhirnigs113

I have a Yggy A2, and I was thinking about adding a third headphone amp. I’m already using the balanced outs and one set of RCA outs. Is there any issue with actively using both RCA outs and the balanced outs all at once?- ckhirnigs113

Do you have the new tungsten Elite or the original aluminum version? I’m pretty sure the tungsten version came stock with the Angled Alcantara pads along with the Hybrids. My aluminum version from a while back came with the non-angled Alcantara pads. I decided to purchase the Angled version when...- ckhirnigs113

I’ve read conflicting things about whether the RCA outputs are inferior to the XLRs on the Yggy A2. I’m using the RCA outs with my little SW51+ tube amp and have no complaints. Since the Yggy A2 is a balanced DAC, I suppose the XLR outputs are technically superior, but maybe it’s not an audible...- ckhirnigs113

Has anyone paired their Aegis with a Yggy A2? There’s a nagging voice in the back of my mind that hates the idea of using the inferior single-ended outputs of my Yggy with an amp as nice as the Aegis. I currently use the balanced outputs of the Yggy into my Mjolnir 3 and know I’m getting the...- ckhirnigs113

The Caldera is not particularly hard to drive. I’ve tried the Caldera with my MJ3, and I thought it sounded excellent. It also sounds great with my Elite. I think it is a good amp for driving planars or dynamics. The Susvara and Tungsten are the only two planars that might need a beefier amp to...- ckhirnigs113

I demoed the Caldera for a week and compared it to my Elite with the MJ3. I don't personally think they are the best complements since they are both musical, high-end, open-back planars. I felt like I couldn't justify owning them both. For me, the Atrium Closed made much more sense to have as a...- ckhirnigs113

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
I’ve tried almost all the ZMF models, and I don’t think any of them have a “lack of bass”. The AC with stock pads clearly has more bass than my OG Auteur, but I never feel like I’m missing any of the music when I listen the Auteur. I personally think you should base your decision on whether you...- ckhirnigs113

Agreed, I find Caldera Suedes more comfortable than the Caldera Thins or Bokeh Suedes for my big ears. The Solid Auteur Suede pads are the most comfortable though, as they are even deeper than the Caldera Suedes.- ckhirnigs113

From Zach's recommendation, I got the Bokeh Suedes with my AC. You might want to switch your order to those instead of the Bokeh Hybrids. I would also second the recommendation to pick up the Caldera Suedes. For many of us, those are our favorite pads on the AC. Unfortunately, I don't think any...- ckhirnigs113

I’ve found a great DAC can elevate the performance of an amp. I underestimated the ability of some of my amps back when I had my BF2 (which I loved for years, btw).
