First DAC please Help! (Sub 80$) - Can be DIY
That is one of DACs I have been talking about. It is one of Weiliang's DACs. Though they look really high-end, there are not much info about these. And they need some additional pcbs if I am not mistaken. Kind of confusing. I might dive in to searching these DACs again, after some time I get...- exhornet

First DAC please Help! (Sub 80$) - Can be DIY
Since you will be buying directly from japan, amazon.co.jp, it will be shipped the next day probably. And tenso is a mail forwarding service, which reputed to be fast. You should have your headphone in a week or two. Some reviews said that some 58$ headphones have better clarity than sz2000. I...- exhornet

First DAC please Help! (Sub 80$) - Can be DIY
Yeah, I read a lot of reviews of SZ2000 and people generally say pretty much what you said. They say it doesn't lack clarity like other basshead headphones. And it seems to respond amazingly to EQ. And even it doesn't need an amp, it just gets better with more power. Now I started to strongly...- exhornet

First DAC please Help! (Sub 80$) - Can be DIY
Thank you all for the info. After learning he-400 has its flaws and he-400i being light on bass i looked for alternatives and found Philips Fidelio X2. Seem like perfect fit for me. They say its good value too. I considered JVC HZS2000 but that headphone is just bass cannon. I really despise...- exhornet

First DAC please Help! (Sub 80$) - Can be DIY
Aftersome thinking, this seems like the best route. I will not get enough additional SQ to justify the price i will pay for O2 and a DAC for now. Not with the HD 518. Saving for HE-400 it is! I hope it will not be discontinued, since HE-400i came. I will check for a used HE-400 in forum. ...- exhornet

Hmm I see. Thank you for your respond. So how about these weiliang DACs? They seem to have higher end chips. There is even one with SE9018 for 90$ unsoldered kit. First DAC please Help! (Sub 80$) - Can be DIY
Hi all. I need a DAC to drive my HD 518. I will eventually buy HE-400 but unfortunately not soon. Anyway, i read everywhere that even cheap DACs make huge difference in sound quality over onboard chip, which i currently use(laptop onboard). It doesn't need to be portable, I will use it on...- exhornet

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
hey guys. i have a sennheiser hd 518. i modded it to have a standart 3.5mm female plug at left cup. i had to sand a lot both inside the cup and the connector, in order to fit it inside the cup. so the process made it fragile. after couple of weeks, it broke down :( it is fine at look but audio...- exhornet

Good 3.5mm case for headphones(replaceble mod)
The parts are all same with jdslab's? I am worried about this. They can be cheaper substitute. (Not opamps, they same), like carbon resistors instead of metal film resistors, cheaper capasitors etc. Also they talk about version of pcb. Is it latest version from nwavguy? Guess I should ask these...- exhornet

Good 3.5mm case for headphones(replaceble mod)
Yeah I saw that place. Seems nice and offers europlug AC/AC adaptor. Which I couldn't find it anywhere here. Which option will you go? Full kit for 80$, or just pcb and parts? I also consider to buy an O2 amp kit from there. I was already planning to, that came convinient :)- exhornet

That was what I exactly tried to say. Not practical. How do you fordward shipping? What does it costs? That would be awesome to buy from stores that ships only in usa. Just curiosity, what kind a amp do yo plan to build? Maybe I also go for it.- exhornet

Good 3.5mm case for headphones(replaceble mod)
Do you guys use or know any good, small body 3.5mm female connectors? I have to buy them from ebay but not sure which one. They all seemed to me very low quality, or I couldn't find them. I will mod my hd 518. It has 2.5mm connector on one side but I need something more universal. Also I happen...- exhornet

Budget full-size amp for Q701
Ergonomy is no problem. I'd take nfb-12.1 blind eyed but it doesn't have analog input for amp section. I use my phone as source most of time, so that is a must. This leads me to matrix.- exhornet

Budget full-size amp for Q701
Ok now i am confused. I didn't tried myself any amp, but there is a whole forum named "Headphone Amps (Full-size)" and thought that an amp would make huge difference on higher headphones. Is it ok as long as i get enough sound level? Couse i listened Q701 with my Nokia N96 and I had enough sound...- exhornet

Budget full-size amp for Q701
I actualy cant care less about look. Just I want to bring out the 800$ performance of the q701. AC powered Class-A discrete amps looked to me more able to do that. Basicly, I just assume. If there ara amps that looks small, but able bring out the performance of q701 i gladly choose them.- exhornet
