Shure Aonic 50 gen 2 - what do you think of them?

Reviews on Shure's website are mostly positive as well, https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/headphones/aonic50?variant=SBH50G2-BK However, one reviewer had the same exact durability issues that I had with my gen1: "...Within the first 6 month period the ear cup leather started to come off. I...

Shure Aonic 50 gen 2 - what do you think of them?

I'll wait a little longer. Maybe someone will review them. The $50 premium over the gen 1 appears to be for improvements in electronics and battery life rather than the physical construction. Gen 1 from amazon: PREMIUM WIRELESS STUDIO-QUALITY SOUND: Engineered from decades of...

Do I "need" a Sennheiser HD600/650/660S(S2) series headphone?

+1zillion Any headfier worth his salt will have an HD6xx of some kind. It's like a reference standard. Imagine it's like the metric system for scientists. Well an HD650 is like a universal standard measurement for headfi. Even if you were to hate it, which is doubtful, you'd be able to...

Shure Aonic 50 gen 2 - what do you think of them?

Does everyone know something that I don't? Is Shure on some secret headfi shi7 list? Seems like I should hold off getting these.

Shure Aonic 50 gen 2 - what do you think of them?

I've got the Shure Aonic 50 gen 1 headphones. I like their sound and am looking at the gen 2 version, eg. https://www.amazon.com/Shure-Cancelling-Headphones-Studio-Quality-Customizable/dp/B0C8X2JF99/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1 Amazon reviews are kind of fuc*ed up, since they don't...

Best aptX Low Latency headset for TV? And Bluetooth transmitter to match?

Thanks. I"ll have to try the Dekoni suede pads next time. I replaced the oem pleather with the Dekoni leather pads. The leather feel of these is very nice, luxurious, as they say. But after a long period of listening, they get a bit warm and clammy. I guess the market is too small for...

Best aptX Low Latency headset for TV? And Bluetooth transmitter to match?

I've been using the Shure Aonic 50 the past couple of years most days to watch tv. Had to replace the earpads when they wore out, but otherwise I'm happy with them. What's else is new in low latency? I've been searching for aptx LL stuff on this page: https://www.aptx.com/aptx-low-latency...

New Apple M1 Macbook Air, M1 Macbook Pro, and M1 Mac Mini - Audio

Curious about the need for macs to "phone home". Will have to try some airgapped mac work to see if it's a general problem. There is a software package called Little Snitch that shows exactly what programs are trying to call out. Most people don't know that firewalls are largely for...

    AirPods Max

So true. Once my ears become adapted to the noise reduction of IEMs or ear plugs, then I start getting annoyed with the little bit of noise that makes it through. This requires me to turn the music up, or choose music very few silent portions, common in some Pop, Rock or Acid Jazz genres...

    AirPods Max

Ok, the argument about staying in the Apple ecosystem is a good one. I've used it to justify Airpods and Airpods Pro. But, to be clear, these Airpods are overpriced, and only squeeze through because they are part of the ecosystem. So, do the Airpods Max fall into the same category...

New Apple M1 Macbook Air, M1 Macbook Pro, and M1 Mac Mini - Audio

I'll be curious how this works out for audio, with the Toslink or Coax digital outputs. Does the OS recognize the digital output and let you manage it?

    AirPods Max

So, what's the concensus. Are the AirPod$Max good for bassheads? Is there a wired set of cans that you might compare them with? (Beyerdynamics come to mind, maybe)

No low latency mode. What a waste of money.

    AirPods Max

Anybody hear if there is a low latency mode on these? The H1 chip's native latency is lower, but that 144ms spec is still far too much for unsynced video.

You could carry a small bluetooth transmitter and plug that into the video.

    AirPods Max

Wow, 6 pages of Headfi discussion and nobody has listened to these yet? My takes: Lightening for charging instead of USB-C? Nice volume control knob. A real knob! Stupid case - not really a case. Not foldable? Stupid for traveling. Will force people to wear these in airports, getting...

The Bose NC 700 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Maybe what I'm really hearing is a different frequency response, wired vs BT. But, I'm deaf over 10kHz, so it probably isn't that high frequency roll off. I use an iPhone, so the noise floor with AAC is good. So, I'll have to try out your frequency generator again to figure out why I...

The Bose NC 700 Noise Cancelling Headphones

I guess bluetooth is only for casual listening, not replacing hard wires any time soon. That's my experience trying bluetooth with high quality IEMs on the Shure BT2 adaptor. The sound is better with wires, more clarity and depth, or something like that.

The Bose NC 700 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Just tried it with your site from a mac. No distortion, but I hear some ~3kHz tones when the generator is at about 15kHz. Some kind of bleed thru, or harmonics, I suppose.

SHURE CUTS THE CORD: RMCE-TW1 / TW2 - THE TRUE WIRELESS THREAD

This is a general question, so to clear up a common misconception, there are two answers: On a computer/smartphone: yes, movies are synced up On a TV open end connection: NO, there is too much delay, making movies practically unwatchable. If you want to watch TV with low latency, you can...

    Best Wireless of any kind!!!!

When you connect wirelessly, what gets you off? Oh Really, is that all? Especially since I'll say that the best is the Bose 700 bluetooth connected to a mac. Tell me I'm wrong!

Shure AONIC 50 Headphones and AONIC 215 Earphones

I spent a pleasant evening watching movies with these. The sound is very natural with the noise cancellation set to Normal. The only nit I have now is that my ears get a bit warm after a while. Hopefully, someone comes along with an idea for breathable pads. BTW, using these with a cable...

$10k for do it all headphone system. Whats your choice?

"Leaves about $1k for a headphone..." is very telling. My experience in the under $10k range is zip, so don't listen to me. But, if you are still here, I'd say spend almost $1k on a set of headphones and maybe $50 - $100 for an amp. For example, $450 for HD650 and $50 for a...

Shure AONIC 50 Headphones and AONIC 215 Earphones

Nice. Moving the noise reduction to from Max to Normal removes some of that closed in feeling. Thanks, Maukey. How does the Shure Aonic 50 compare with the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless, the only other bluetooth cans I'd consider at the moment. (my criteron: audiophile quality with aptx-LL)
