The DX220 is on my list, but I am concerned about battery life when I know other DAPs have longer battery life. Does no one get over 5-6 hours?

I was going to purchase the DX220 but spotted a thread on here where people were saying they were only getting 4 to 5 hours battery life. Can anyone shed some light on this? https://www.head-fi.org/threads/ibasso-dx220-battery-life-issues.910525/

hmm... better SQ vs Battery life... I will compensate Good SQ sound for shorter battery. just saying... but people have different wants... so you also right...

I am not complaining at all... I come from the Sony ZX300 which is a champion for battery life and overall sound quality. But I am ready to charge more times the battery in favor of the amazing sound quality.

The most reasonable explanation is, battery life of the DX220 differ across the units. And the quality control is not tight enough to prevent this. Maybe there is unit variance between the produced batteries Or batteries are the same but other factors of the devices differ and it causes battery...

If everyone was getting the 8-9 hours of battery life and it was only me getting less, that would mean DX220 doesn't have problems in this area and the problem is just about me or my unit. But so many people report significantly shorter life and that's the weird part that needs an explanation...

so back to the topic of battery life I've noticed that battery has improved slightly in the past 30hrs of use. I'm getting around 5.5hrs streaming amazon HD, using high gain. Haven't tried Mango exclusively, but I would imagine around the same life.

I just want battery life info :(

In regards to battery there may be Google/Android services draining the battery quicker. On the R6 Pro thread there has been discussions about changing certain settings which appears to improve battery life.

I haven't had any problems with battery life on my unit.

The player is more than 2 years old and no one has changed the battery until that time. With a new battery, the player works noticeably longer.

Needed to send back my dx220 because of battery life- 4.5h is a joke. Im aiming at dx300, seems like average battery life is around 13h which is a good result considering high amp power and power hangry dacs. Plus great screen which can be finally used while the battery and a chipset support it...

Hi all. Have had my DX220 for 48 hours now and loving it - except the battery life. Am on high gain, using Bose NC700 headphones and Mago OS its dropping around 20% in an hour - so would be 4-5hrs battery life. Is that about right for those that have had device for longer? Using Amp1 Mkii

Some have reported longer battery life on lower gain and at lower listening volume. A few have reported better life with AMP9 and the new FW... For me, and I have seen others agree with this, my listening sessions are for maybe an 1 or 2 hours at the most so I don't really have to worry about...

It may not be the right device for those needing long battery life. My listening sessions are usually 1 - 2 hours and I don't think I have ever listened longer than 3 hours at once so the 5 hour total is fine with me. Hopefully those reporting longer battery life will share their specifics so...

I was referring to battery life which I thought your question was pertaining to. Did I misunderstand? I do not have AMP9 (never had a desire for the tube sound or the hiss that has been reported by some) so can't comment about how that compares to AMP8EX... Cheers, Tim
