would hugo 2 be overkill for tidal lossless streaming. in this case 16/44.1 khz tidal cd quality and 24/96khz for tidal masters. at some point i will experiment with dsd and higher resolution music but at present tidal is my main source of music. thanks mk.- musickid

Tidal plays offline if you load the apk version. So does Qobuz. I prefer the native Tidal for mqa but the apk for the overall experience.- Progisus

I'm using a MAC with Roon right now. I had Tidal running as well but was not using it. I just shut Roon down and hit play on Tidal. With "exclusive mode" selected there is horrible static. As soon as I unchecked it things improved. I closed Tidal and launched Roon and it still sounds great...- EndGameSearch

Well I do much of my listening using the Tidal HiFi streaming and I use Dave and don't consider that overkill for the Tidal service. I can clearly tell the improvement to the Tidal HiFi service by using Dave compared to the HugoTT or indeed compared to another competitors DAC costing ~ £10,000...- Triode User

HI Hooster, so when it says force volume: keep tidal volume at max level is this not an indication that tidal has increased the volume to maximum from within the tidal desktop app? if tidal has no influence on the 'physical' volume heard and the external device the hugo 2 is in charge totally...- musickid

...from what endgame wrote is everybody using the latest version? endgame does not seem to be. the version you have is under settings 'about tidal'. i am trying to eliminate tidal as the source of the problem or not. my H2 has been working fine so i hope its a tidal bug. can people update their...- musickid

I thought you could stream Tidal and Qobuz in HD from the app and not via airplay? using Zorloo Ztella with my Iphone for daily commute overides the internal DAC chip in the Ihpne and I can stream 24/96 from Tidal and upto 24/192.....What can the CH22GO combo do?- Widell

HI Hooster, I fully understand now. i would like to check the exclusive mode setting. this is where tidal has control of the dac's sampling rate etc ie exclusive use of the audio device.. i am just using the output on my imac at present. when i choose exclusive mode the computer volume slider...- musickid

can confirm that even within tidal the hifi lossless tracks sound better than those "non-hifi" tidal tracks. more dynamic, fuller with more "energy".- musickid

I think this would be a rash decision. What possibly could have changed in the Hugo 2. Tidal does an update, and now Tidal HiFi only has issues, but not Tidal Masters. Think about that.- x RELIC x

I'm at a loss. I'm listening to Tidal through Roon right now with "use exclusive mode" turned on to "yes" under device setup with no issue at all. Maybe the actual Tidal app is interfering under the covers of Roon in the actual Mac sound settings. You could try uninstalling Tidal and trying...- EndGameSearch

Hi, what does the Blu2 do with Tidal that the Dave does not? Does Blu2 somehow improve the Tidal stream before it hands it over to DAVE? If so, the question arises why does Dave not just do that itself?- Hooster

I have no idea what the issue would be in this case. Roon is only using your Tidal credentials. It's not playing through the actual Tidal app. I don't think you technically even need the Tidal app loaded to the same laptop as Roon.- EndGameSearch
