Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
Having had the opportunity to listen to Odin, I can very comfortably say that it definitely fills all of the voids that anyone could potentially find in the Zeus or the Wraith (which are also amazing IEMs). I have a bias obviously, but it's only a few days. I don't think anyone here will be...- Seth Warshavsky

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
Along with Deezel, I heard an early prototype of one of the EE models and my jaw actually dropped. It was unlike any IEM I have ever heard, and I own over 35 CIEMs. That being said it was an early version, but I think we are all in for a very pleasant surprise. If you have just purchased an...- Seth Warshavsky

Hi Aleksandar Thanks for your help, for DACs we're using a Yggdrasil and a PS Audio Directstream, and we have them both paired with Headamp GSX MK2s as preamps. Thanks much Seth- Seth Warshavsky

I already answered that the PS Audio Directstream is a better DAC, but in this situation the difference in the quality of the DAC was a fairly insignificant matter compared to the quality of the amplification (and the synergy of the amplification with the SR1A). I apologize if my response...- Seth Warshavsky

You know what, I take it back there is a 5%-15% restocking fee depending on the condition of the return. So keep them like new, and the test will cost you 35 USD per Vidar. S- Seth Warshavsky

They are fully refundable for 15 days, no one should need to ask anything else. It's simply a 700 or 1400 USD credit card charge. Do yourself a favor and try them. After you do that, the rest of the thread makes sense. S- Seth Warshavsky

6moons is an audiophile publication with unlimited amplification at their disposal. They did not try the Vidar at all. I'm sure the amps they suggest sound incredible. I am simply stating out of the 20 or so amps I tested including the Bryston 3B3, that the Schiit Vidar sounded better in my (and...- Seth Warshavsky

One Vidar sounds very good. Two of them just has a lot more power. Honestly, I would spend 700 USD buy one, you will love the sound.. and see if you want more power. If you do, spring for the second! S- Seth Warshavsky

I am not googling it but by memory the HE9 is a headphone amp the SR1A needs a speaker amp that outputs at least 100 better 150 watts per channel at 8 ohms, so you would need a different kind of amp for your SR1A. The most affordable and best sounding I have found is the Schiit Vidar 699 USD and...- Seth Warshavsky

I’m saying that both systems sound excellent with the SR1A. I am partial to the PS Audio DAC but there is not a substantial audible difference when you are playing flac files with the SR1A. This thread is about what works well with the SR1A and I think the key factor is amplification, switching...- Seth Warshavsky

I actually almost tried the NAD M22 today, but my experience with all of the other class D amps including the Lyngdorf and a few others is that they don't really sound as good as the class A/B amps with the SR1A. Has anyone else actually compared the two and found a class D the prefer? Thanks S- Seth Warshavsky

I think I covered it above but PM me if you have any specific questions. It's fantastic but a bit thin and bright. The Vidar is much richer and full of body (better mids and lows) but does lack the detail of the 3B3.- Seth Warshavsky

The 3B3 has great detail and clarity and sounds fantastic, it's just lacking the rich full sound that we're getting with the single Vidar. This makes me think the Vidar monoblocks may be the way to go. The 3B3 is quite bright too, this could be due to the pre that we have been using (GSX MK2...- Seth Warshavsky

Well need to say I just had a chance to connect the Vidar to a Yggdrasil and a PS Audio Directstream DAC using a GSX MK2 as a pre-amp, and the single Vidar sounds pretty damn incredible. In certain aspects as far as the mids and lows and actual weight to the sound, I think it sounds better than...- Seth Warshavsky

Question, has any one had any experience with the micromedia 150 integrated amps 150 watts per channel at 8 ohms? I just auditioned one and it seemed pretty good, but the setting wasn’t great so I’m not sure how accurately I really heard it. Appreciate the feedback S- Seth Warshavsky

As for my own opinion I auditioned the HE-1 at ConnectIT in Singapore last weekend for CanJam and I truly think I prefer the SR1A. A very long review from this customer: SR1A very detailed and clear but the bass is not deep enough for him. Empyrean is very flat and bass is good but detail is not good enough.
