Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private
Next problem with the device is that it is really erratic as to whether or not it can see its 2 microSD cards and internal storage at the same time. It seems random as to what actually shows up - maybe 2 cards and no internal storage, maybe 1 card and internal storage, maybe just 1 card, so far...- zumaro

Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private
Turning off the Autosync is a very good idea thanks! And not changing the music on the MicroSD cards too often it appears...- zumaro

Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private
One initial problem is for the DPS1 Disk Number is not used to sort by, thereby scrambling multi disk albums. And resynching of the 128GB MicroSD card each time I restart the device, and as this is taking over an hour to achieve, it's all rather tedious.- zumaro

JVC HA-FW02 mini review
My impression was totally different. Tried the FW02s in Yodobashi and wondered what was wrong with the overly aggressive treble and bass. To me it sounded like these had been ramped up to give an artificial excitement to the sound. Ultimately it was tiring and unpleasant after only 10 minutes of...- zumaro

Dvorak's 9th Good Recording?
Many good recordings of a work this famous, but two good modern versions are Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, which is compellingly fresh and rethought out and Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, which is a little pulled around and more... -
Do you like any Asian rock band?
Anything with Kenichi Asai in front of it - best (or at least most distinctive) voice in Japanese rock. Whether its the formidable Blankey Jet City, or more recently Sherbets or Jude, this is about the best J-indie has to offer. Try the relatively commercial Sweet Days from Blankey Jet City... -
Best Mozart string quartets complete set
My vote is for the Talich Quartet, if we are talking complete sets. Leaner and less upholstered than the Italians, with distinctly more energy in the earlier quartets. Also to my ears a clearer and more detailed sound, although the 80s sound signature may not be to all tastes. If its just... -
Philips Cityscape Downtown or Sennheiser PX-200 II
Haven't heard them but the Senns get really good reviews for their price point. The new model is meant to be a considerable improvement over the old one- zumaro

Headphone for gym and travel
Either the Senns of the Beyers are good portable headphones. The Senns probably have better impact, and the sound is not dependent upon where they sit on your head, which I would imagine would count the Beyers out for gym use, as they are so particular with head placement for bass. The Senns are...- zumaro

200$ max headphones with case?
The Sennheisers are the superior headphone in nearly every way (and I say that as an AT fanboy). If you have the money go for them, as one of the best sounding portable headphones out there. They are also very durable in construction, with everything on them being replaceable, so a simple bag...- zumaro

Supertramp – Are they underrated?
Interesting bigshot - my experience kind of mirrors yours, liking Supertramp for at least one album, but now finding them very clumsy and not possible to like even on one of my 70s nostalgia waves. Disco/RnB/Funk, which I always enjoyed at the time, however has lasted the distance with me. Give... -
Mahler's 10th?
I think it is hard to comment upon the greatness of a work of which only 2 movements were completed by Mahler himself. I would think from what I have read, that the critical opinion of the work is very high however, whatever the merits of the various performing versions might be, or even the... -
New Albums from Belle & Sebastian and Sufjan Stevens
Belle and Sebastian - more of Dear Catastrophe Waitress, but not quite as fresh sounding. It's certainly enjoyable enough, but not up there with the last two. Sufjan Stevens - still not sure about this one. The trend to overblown repetitiveness doesn't really attract me, his use of... -
The Walkmen - Lisbon
Great album - I like its consistency, and general low key vibe. Heading towards some kind of blend of punk/rockabilly as played at 3 am in the morning. -
Looking for portable headphones $200
If you want something more durable than the ESW9s go up one notch and get the ES10s. Better sounding, with tighter and deeper bass, and more dynamic with a larger driver. Made out of metal, and with improved tougher construction over the rather fragile ESW9s.- zumaro
