Slacker compatible players
I'm considering a new portable wireless player, but I'd like it to be compatible with Slacker (aka Live x Live). Which ones if any are compatible with Slacker or if there is simple hack to get Slacker onto the player, I'd consider that too.- VonMillerFan

Input please HifiMan 400i vs Massdrop 4xx vs ATH-M50x
Looking into the m40x and it may be the way to go - I tend to prefer neutral over bassy. I listen to alot of rock, blues and heavy metal and too much bass makes those genres sound muddy. I'm set with IEMs, I have the ATH-IM02, which I'm pretty happy with, even if it's a little flat with some...- VonMillerFan

Thanks for the input guys. I was pretty sold on the ATH-M50x, but then I saw the HFM's and the prices are much lower than I remember, so I was curious. Any comments on the ATH-M50x as far as ruggedness goes? What about it's little brothers (ie the 20, 30 & 40).- VonMillerFan

Looking at the above 3 headphones. The source will be my Samsung Galaxy. I do prefer flatter/analytical sounding ear/headphones, but don't mind a warmer sounding set for some music. How bad does the sound bleed out on the Hifi's? Alot of the use will be on bus rides to and from work. I...- VonMillerFan

With a mic included - good luck. Right now I'm using my old Shure e2c's that I spliced my Samsung headphone cord into. I have the Audio-Technica ATH-IM02, but you have pay another $50 for iPhone compatible cord. I tried ordering an Android compatible mic cord from Lunashops, but it never...- VonMillerFan

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
Can anybody comment on the e17 (and similar portable amps) ability to drive a high load like the Beyerdynamic 880 (250 ohm)? Generally, I don't listen at high volumes. How about something like the Q701 (~60 ohms). Thanks, James- VonMillerFan

Review by 'VonMillerFan' on item 'FiiO E18 KUNLUN Android Phone USB DAC & AMP'
I really liked the sound. I'd been using my Galaxy S4 for mobile listening and adding this DAC/amp made a definite improvement in sound quality. Detail improved, most noticeably in the lower bass region and the sound stage got a tad wider. The battery life was great and I liked being able to...- VonMillerFan

Review by 'VonMillerFan' on item 'VSONIC GR07'
I have the Bass Edition. They're good earphones. I found the sound quality a little lacking in detail in the upper mid/treble range. I'm not sure what that was about, since I eq'd them to near flat response - they just never sounded right with rock and heavy metal. My Shure e2c's are much...- VonMillerFan

Build quality is great and they're so much more comfortable than my GR07s. I really wanted to like them, but I just couldn't get them dialed in. Even heavily EQing the bass and treble down, the mids still sounded recessed and lacked detail. The thumpy bass is nice, but the novelty wore off...- VonMillerFan

Meeaudio's m6 triple flanges fit well and work great for me. Improved isolation and most importantly remained sealed for more than a song or two.- VonMillerFan

How to Equalize Your Headphones: 2016 update
LOL, had to look up the Joe Bloggs equalizing tutorial. Good stuff. I'm actually able to my GR07s to sound pretty flat from ~30hz-10khz using just a generic 10band EQ. It would be nice to have a good parametric EQ and really dial these in.- VonMillerFan
