Already have ATH-IM02s. Just looking for an over-the-ear option.

    Slacker compatible players

I'm considering a new portable wireless player, but I'd like it to be compatible with Slacker (aka Live x Live). Which ones if any are compatible with Slacker or if there is simple hack to get Slacker onto the player, I'd consider that too.

Will do. I didn't realize they have an over the ear version....

Input please HifiMan 400i vs Massdrop 4xx vs ATH-M50x

Looking into the m40x and it may be the way to go - I tend to prefer neutral over bassy. I listen to alot of rock, blues and heavy metal and too much bass makes those genres sound muddy. I'm set with IEMs, I have the ATH-IM02, which I'm pretty happy with, even if it's a little flat with some...

Input please HifiMan 400i vs Massdrop 4xx vs ATH-M50x

Thanks for the input guys. I was pretty sold on the ATH-M50x, but then I saw the HFM's and the prices are much lower than I remember, so I was curious. Any comments on the ATH-M50x as far as ruggedness goes? What about it's little brothers (ie the 20, 30 & 40).

Input please HifiMan 400i vs Massdrop 4xx vs ATH-M50x

Looking at the above 3 headphones. The source will be my Samsung Galaxy. I do prefer flatter/analytical sounding ear/headphones, but don't mind a warmer sounding set for some music. How bad does the sound bleed out on the Hifi's? Alot of the use will be on bus rides to and from work. I...

With a mic included - good luck.  Right now I'm using my old Shure e2c's that I spliced my Samsung headphone cord into.  I have the Audio-Technica ATH-IM02, but you have pay another $50 for iPhone compatible cord.  I tried ordering an Android compatible mic cord from Lunashops, but it never...

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

Can anybody comment on the e17 (and similar portable amps) ability to drive a high load like the Beyerdynamic 880 (250 ohm)?  Generally, I don't listen at high volumes.  How about something like the Q701 (~60 ohms).    Thanks, James

Review by 'VonMillerFan' on item 'FiiO E18 KUNLUN Android Phone USB DAC & AMP'

I really liked the sound.  I'd been using my Galaxy S4 for mobile listening and adding this DAC/amp made a definite improvement in sound quality.  Detail improved, most noticeably in the lower bass region and the sound stage got a tad wider.  The battery life was great and I liked being able to...

Review by 'VonMillerFan' on item 'VSONIC GR07'

I have the Bass Edition.  They're good earphones.  I found the sound quality a little lacking in detail in the upper mid/treble range.  I'm not sure what that was about, since I eq'd them to near flat response - they just never sounded right with rock and heavy metal.  My Shure e2c's are much...

Review by 'VonMillerFan' on item 'RHA MA750i'

Build quality is great and they're so much more comfortable than my GR07s.  I really wanted to like them, but I just couldn't get them dialed in.  Even heavily EQing the bass and treble down, the mids still sounded recessed and lacked detail.  The thumpy bass is nice, but the novelty wore off...

    GR07 - Tips Thread

Meeaudio's m6 triple flanges fit well and work great for me.  Improved isolation and most importantly remained sealed for more than a song or two.

How to Equalize Your Headphones: 2016 update

LOL, had to look up the Joe Bloggs equalizing tutorial.  Good stuff.    I'm actually able to my GR07s to sound pretty flat from ~30hz-10khz using just a generic 10band EQ.  It would be nice to have a good parametric EQ and really dial these in.

That's the type thing that might make me invest in a portable head phone amp.

I think they'll stand up to sweat.  I'm sure the pads are replaceable.

    PX200 II thread.

Great thread.  I like my PX200's too.  A little light on the bass, but not bad.  The price is good, they're ultra portable, durable and the sound is pretty decent.  Personally, I like IEM's better, but every-so-often I break the PX200's back out.

How to Equalize Your Headphones: 2016 update

Nice tutorial.  So much easier than the crap us car audio guys have to go thru to get some semblance of flat response.

Help: Are these Shure SE215s fake?

If you look at the FR graph from innerfidelity, I would expect them to sound muddy, lacking in mids with piercing highs.   That's why I passed on them.    http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/ShureSE215.pdf

Good <$200 IEM with flat response

I wouldn't mind springing for the FLC 8s, but the impedance is too low.    The Rockets are interesting, I'll do some research on them.

Good <$200 IEM with flat response

Bump.     I'm back.  I guess I have to amend my original criteria and up the budget.  Researching all the options, apparently there are a ton of nice sounding IEMs out there (re400, Gr07, Dunu 1000, et, al), however, they appear to lack longevity and have spotty customer/warranty service.  I'm...

Hifiman: Terrible experience with RE-400i and the company's customer service

Thanks for the thread.  I'm in the market for new IEM's and of course the re-400 got mentioned but, I noticed a lot of issues with cable and mic/remote failure noted here and on Amazon.  I'd be willing to take a chance if I thought HFM would stand behind the product, but if I'm paying to ship...

Good <$200 IEM with flat response

My Shure e2c's are giving up the ghost or more accurately, the cable is.  I've already replaced the 3.5mm jack and now the cable has cracked about ~1" after the earbud.  I am considering popping them apart and re-cabling/grafting them onto a Samsung OEM cable, but I'd rather not.  I definitely...
