5800 with IE8?
I think the 5800 is great as an MP3 player... Its not quite as good as my Sony A818 but its not far off and tend to grab the 5800 more offen. I use mine with a sony bluetooth adaptor and EX85. I perfer the sound with the Sony bluetooth adaptor... sure at low volumes I sometimes hear a bit...- Veggie_Musician

Sony MDR-EX300 earbuds
I dont like the EX300. Compaired to the EX90/85 its substandard. Its not a bad earphone and prob is better than most. It just does not have the punch the modded EX90s have. Also EX300s dont sit in your ears and fall out all the time... this means lots of boom and fall outs during running.- Veggie_Musician

Sony EX90 Modding thread!
To get the best seal with EX buds dont push them too far in... they should not go any ferther in than sticking your ring finger in your ear. Triple flanges reduce the air space in your ears resulting poorer sound quality in my opinion. Thats why I like EX buds as they dont go too far in yet seal...- Veggie_Musician

MDR-EX300LP: pleasantly surprised!
I got my EX300 for £30 as I need to fix my EX85's. They are not nearlly in same league as EX90/85 - Bass is a lot less and treable is a bit bright. Track down EX90/85 and mod them using my thread - much better headphone. -
Advice needed: Upgrade from E4C
Modded Sony EX90 - why spend loads. I use mine more than my Westone UM2's now. -

Sony EX90 Modding thread!
I have just got a pair of EX300's which in my opinion sound better than the EX85 unmodded but sound a lot worse than modded EX85's. The EX300's just dont have the punch nor full sound the EX85/90's do. Ive tried modding the EX300 yet no joy at the moment - I will do a propper thread once I...- Veggie_Musician

Sony a81x s61x...Faulty?
I own a 818 and a 805 On the 818 I do get the problems mentioned by the OP which I dont get on my 805. I found the problem... dissable Dynamic normalliser on the 818 - everything sound fine now. BTW Dynamic normaliser works on the 805 so its a bug in the 818's firmware. I must agree that...- Veggie_Musician
