I just exchanged my rio for a sony MP3CDP. It plays normal pressed CD's fine (much better than the rio), I cant really tell its sound quality yet, (since I have no access to any speakers or quality headphones for the moment) but I havent been hearing any hiss or anything else like that. So it...

So I guess I should go with the sony. The chromX/slimX doesnt work because its more expensive and I havent seen it for sale anywhere in South Western BC, Canada. Anybody else have any suggestions?

Now I do more research this is what I get: Rio: Shoddy build quality. (IE: If you drop it from table height to carpet floor and it _Breaks_.) Very bad customer service. Ok sound quailty. The other three: Good build quality (sony suppostedly has better sound quailty), has some problems...

I meant isn't there a mic that is designed for an optical line-in jack. It makes sense. But I guess there is not (for some strange reason). How much does a mic amp cost?

Well, guess what, staples does not sell Minidisc players/recorders/etc. And I can't seem to get rid of it so I guess I will have to wait a while. Thanks for your help (And staples.ca does not list "minidisc" or "sony" that has anything to do with minidisc's. Annoying.)

That otterbox looks like a cheap lunch pail. Their (minidisco's) MD's are over priced (1.50 USD for 1 MD, In canada, you can get them for a buck (CND) an MD. And I havent got the MD player yet since I have no time to go out yet. But thanks for the suggestions.
