Very fair! It's all a matter of taste, as we know. Well, I really like them. They are my favorite headphones I've heard under $2k. They have a bit of brightness at 5kHz that bothered me at first, but either it became less bothersome during break-in (more likely) or I simply got used to it. They...- Tshiknn

I have an Ash! In fact, I have the one in the cover photo on the website. Those photos are fairly saturated and they look a little less red and a little browner in real life. The wood has an almost luminescent quality. I think they look really nice and I'm a little surprised more people...- Tshiknn

FWIW, I run my Auteur Classic off a Jot2 and I think they sound great. However, I'm using Modi 3 (neutral) as a DAC. I'm given to understand Bifrost 2 is a warmer, "meatier" DAC that may complement your Arya better. (Not the kind of DAC I'm interested in, in any case - I had the OG Bimby and it...- Tshiknn

One thing I've been surprised by is how picky the Auteur is with seal. I thought my hearing on my right side was a lot worse than I thought; turns out I just didn't have the headphone seated quite right on that side, which created a hole in the treble. Crisis averted!! Anyway, a...- Tshiknn

How many of you have tinnitus?
Yup, and it's very distressing for me as I'm 25 and it's audible over most background noise because of how high-pitched it is (15-17kHz). The thought that I will be dealing with this for the rest of my life still often throws me although I've had it for about 10 years at this point. I'm going...- Tshiknn

I had been in contact with Zach for a couple months angling for one of the LTD sets, so I think these got shipped out as soon as they were done photographing them for the website. Big thanks to him for being communicative and helping me get my hands on a really pretty set :) I believe so! I...- Tshiknn

These came in a couple days ago, and oh god, aren't they pretty? This is the new LTD ash. This is the first pair of kilobuck+ headphones I've bought after several years in the hobby and eartime with a lot of amazing systems. These can hold their own in any company, that's for sure. I don't have...- Tshiknn

The Stax Thread III
I've recently gotten a used Stax SR-Lambda. However, the earpads were never replaced (it seems), and they haven't aged super well, as they're now rather hard and just a bit uncomfortable. So I'm looking for earpad replacements. I would love to get something custom, maybe one of the alcantara...- Tshiknn

Review by 'Tshiknn' on item 'Stax SR-Lambda (Λ)'
Note: The rating and pros/cons above are for the normal-bias SR-Lambda. This review also makes mention of the Lambda Pro, which I also have in my possession. Stax has always been a vaunted and controversial name in high-end audio. Their fans claim that no dynamic headphone can so much as touch...- Tshiknn

Roll Call for Team AKG
I was a fledgling audiophile back when I first purchased the K400s, and now I'm doing reviews professionally and I've heard a lot of TOTL equipment, so I might as well say it: I still like the K400. Obviously they fail in terms of technicalities, and they often get quite bogged down and...- Tshiknn

Audio-Technica ATH-AD2000 Discussion (and Appreciation) Thread!
Has anyone had any luck pairing these with an OTL tube amp or similar? I'm at my parents' right now, and I've left my mom a Little Dot MkII to power her HD600s. Just tried to the ATH-AD2000 with it, and it doesn't sound good per se. It loses to my Atom miserably on detail, and there's a kind of...- Tshiknn

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
Got a Voshkod 6N23P '79 gray shield (on the cheap off ebay), because I always used Voshkods with my Little Dot MkII and was always pleased with the result. Here, though, I'm getting really forward mids with the Voshkods - my Sundara goes from being the laidback headphone that it typically is to...- Tshiknn

It's always nice when you run into an album that perfectly suits a pair of headphones, as if they were meant for each other. Well, here's one for the AD2000:- Tshiknn

HIFIMAN HE6se Loaner tour
Wow, is it still possible to indicate interest in this tour? I am currently the owner of a Sundara, and I'm writing a review of it at the moment to be posted on Headphonesty. I really enjoy the Sundara - hearing it for the first time was one of the most magical experiences I've had in...- Tshiknn

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)
Well, I just sat on my Sundaras. One of the yokes bent pretty significantly, but I was able to bend it back into place without really any trouble. Thanks Hifiman for switching to the metal yokes this time around, otherwise I guess I would've just destroyed my headphones! Still noticing some...- Tshiknn
