Best headphones for classical music
Something about that deep sub-bass... I liked that full sound a lot when I auditioned them with symphonic works. The rich timpani sounds and the impressive sound stage. I think I enjoy bass with classical works. I always got my hd600 if I need a more neutral experience. But the 770 32...- Topazus

Thank you for the detailed response, Paul. Had I read what you wrote in time, I probably wouldn't go for the DT770 32ohm and would buy the 900x instead. Guess I'll have to live with that now.- Topazus

Warm Sounding Portable amp?
I'm looking for the same thing. Any other suggestions. Is E07K a good option? I want warm and lush sound... to make HD 600 warm like HD 650 when I need it.- Topazus

Since you kindly quoted the "to me at least" part, that gives me the option to not have to redefine the word "superior." Again, I'm not a big fan of the Bartok trio and I think considerably less of the Khachaturian trio. Tastes and preferences. No big deal. -

I agree with most of your observations. Hindemith is indeed a great composer, just not one of my top favorites. I didn't have any feelings for his work with Goodman either. Maybe I just enjoy jazz for what it is and don't care much for the Stravinsky, Bartok, or Hindemith jazz. I'll... -

I agree with you. That Ebony Concerto! I can't say I never have it a chance. Listened to it over and over only to realize it's a piece which simply should not have been written. Benny Goodman was definitely unlucky with his commissions. World class composers wrote their worst works for him... -

Bartok's my absolute favorite. It's just I think (and I've heard many people say the same) that his trio is not really among is best works. Some of the passages are too weakly related to the piece and I find some of it pretty dull, even though I do enjoy the work overall. I usually listen to the... -

Nice to read all the praise for Terterian's music. Such a unique composer! I read somewhere that Terterian was admired by Shostokovich quite a bit back in the day. There's another Armenian composer I really admire, Edward Manukyan. Those who like clarinet trios will definitely know his... -
Upgrade from Sennheiser MX 375
I know this is an old post, but if anyone else is looking... Yuin PK3 is a great earbud and pretty cheap. Probably the best there is. The MX 375 itself is great, and amazes me the way it reproduces string music.- Topazus

Earbuds Round-Up
How come the Sennheiser MX 375 and MX365 are barely mentioned here? Are these cheap crappy earbuds not even worthy of the briefest commentary? Quite surprising because elsewhere on the web, they are well discussed, reviewed... Just not here.- Topazus

Looking for non noise-cancelling earphones under $50
What are your thoughts about the Sennheiser MX365? There is hardly anything written about them on head fi. They are very cheap. Any reason to hope these aren't disposable crap like the cheap TDK and such?- Topazus

Are the cups bigger than DT880/990 cups? I want more space for my ears, both depth and diameter. Are these gonna do it?- Topazus
