thanks for all your ideas and input :) I am looking for the best DAP for me around the $400 price range so far it sounds like a choice between the cowon z2 and the fiios x3 but all other options are welcome like I said before I listen to all types of music but my main music is rock,county and pop

Hello how would you compare a ipod classic 5.5 or 7g rockboxed paired with mr.speakers mad dog headpones? would a cowon z2 be a better match I listen to alot of music but my main is rock, country and pop. Any help would be great thanks

I have had a pair of 448's so as portable as that is fine and for the amp not too big or bulky something to fit into a pocket so they can go with me.  Yes I would want one that is more neutral but with slightly more bass as long as it is tight :)
