THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
I remember the "problem" with headonia 300B was the gain too high, so I could barely moved the potentiometer. What's your usual volume with HE1000SE? Agree, new generation of Auris truly built like a tank.- TheMiddleSky

Grado Signature HP100 SE
Which one is more of your current favourite between HP100SE and Joal? I quite like Joal, but had hard time to enjoyed the HP100SE. With flat pad actually it's still ok (even though I still prefer Joal by big margin), with G-Pad HP100SE is quite thin and sharp sounding.- TheMiddleSky

RAAL 1995 Immanis
Which valvo is that? I quite like RCA VT231 grey glass for the same reason you describe the Valvo. In general I usually like smoke/grey glass tube as they tend to sound warmer.- TheMiddleSky

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!
Even DX340 with desktop mode already really powerful for Caldera. No need to worry about power here. Whether you like the sound or not is a different matter though. What make you dislike Empy II?- TheMiddleSky

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Haha, yes, HRTF effect is super real. I also consider myself as sensitive to upper mid/low treble frequency, and can't stand bright headphone like HD800 for even an hour of use. While you can use HD800 for a decade lol.- TheMiddleSky

Summit-Fi Random Thoughts
If you after a truly unique sound character HP100SE is a good option, especially if you like the grado presentation. With G-Pad (Jumbo Pad) it sounds truly terrible for me, bright, thin, sharp, and hollow at the same time. I truly wonder why Grado attached it as standard pad, especially as...- TheMiddleSky

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
I had Diana twice (Diana V2 and Phi), while I definitely could enjoyed them well, I understand for some people Diana's midrange may seem wonky, especially at lower midrange area. At first I also a bit sceptical about Joal, but after tried at canjam, I understand fully why Abyss named this...- TheMiddleSky

In my point of view, we agree on the same thing. Yes, Joal provide less peaks at frequency response, that overall make joal more polite than Arashi. Electric guitar may sounds more lively with more peaks around midrange to treble. For bass density, for me is about the "weighty" or solidness...- TheMiddleSky

ZMF Caldera Closed
I second this. If want to push the budget even more, I quite like PW 1950 for Caldera.- TheMiddleSky

Brise Audio FUGAKU - The world's first Ultimate Portable Audio System
Honestly I still don't understand as well why need to compare Hex to fugaku. Hex is good, yes, but it's still sound like other TOTL IEM in term of presentation. Fugaku is entirely different being. Totally disagree that Hex has better technicalities than Fugaku as well. As we know, the newest...- TheMiddleSky

Brise Audio FUGAKU - The world's first Ultimate Portable Audio System
If we talk about the price, as Immanis user it's not fair to compare Immanis price to IEM. As we know, we need to use "proper" set up for Immanis, that's extra heft amount of budget. We can just plug Fugaku or HEX to the decent DAPs and they perform well already. Also not to mention their...- TheMiddleSky

No, they only open booth at canjam hongkong (their hometown). Also, due to a bit long process to assembly, I think most people just got their Steranko around last week as well (Muxicbox's thread become more active lately).- TheMiddleSky

If only I can change my choice then I will include this blue IEM. Just received it last week. Definitely gave me a big shock how good the sound from Steranko 40. It excels in provide lifelike and organic vocality, close to neutral tonality with a hint of extra midrange presence and sweetness in...- TheMiddleSky

Joal is much better than Arashi. Arashi may seems "fun" to listen due to energetic and punchy character, but midrange tonality a bit wonky, and imaging structure also a bit all over the place when compared to "neat" imaging structure of Joal. Joal also deliver more density of each notes and less...- TheMiddleSky

I hate to admit that I have to agree lol. Any chance you tried Joal? Based on how I really like Caldera, I "easily" enjoy Joal more than DZ.- TheMiddleSky
