Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Oh yes... I just wasn't thinking... quite apart from the stuff on playback equipment, and the cheapo unit EQ sliders that went Scrrrr even when they were new... I guess very, very many mics in studios and live sound venues get fed straight into mixers which are very much analogue. And, come...- Thad-E-Ginathom

Of course it is. Are you too young to remember those banks of sliders that, at a certain age, went "scrcrcrcrc" when you moved them?- Thad-E-Ginathom

It begins with R and so does Right, which is why I always stuck to red=right for hifi wires. But a seaman would say that red should indicate left.- Thad-E-Ginathom

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Accessing a bunch of data on one or more machines from one or many others is what networking has been about for decades. Doesn't matter that it is music. Mind you, I use an old-school-techie model of simple files-in-directory-trees storage, and immediately reject media players that...- Thad-E-Ginathom

OHMYGOD they're giving up hifi and going in for burgers! But... you'know... Schiit Audio was a stroke of marketing genius. Schiit Burgers? Maybe not so much.- Thad-E-Ginathom

The conversation has moved on, but, just for the record... I don't have any bagpipe music, but I could certainly listen to it from time to time. Scottish, Irish... etc. And Taiko... oh wow yes! Now there's bass thumps to thrill the soul!- Thad-E-Ginathom

I can, because I don't have to click on that red pay button! What? People listen to it when they are not demoing hifi? Shock! Horror! Well, ok, if I hadn'e got fed up by overexposure, I might listen to it once in a while. There is much "worse" pop music that I like an occasional...- Thad-E-Ginathom

I used to quite like Hotel California until I spent some time with audiophiles. Now I detest it and run screaming from any room where it is played. It's a good thing I don't hang out with them audiophiles much any longer! (For goodness sake... it's a pretty decent pop song, with a catchy...- Thad-E-Ginathom

Don't you just hate it when people trot out abbreviations as if everybody should know them? Sorry. And thanks, Torq: yes I was. :)- Thad-E-Ginathom

Please note, I have not tried removing it --- but my guess is that a little IPA on a cotton bud would do the trick. I'd rate it as less permanent than nail varnish! Perhaps you should have invited your store lady to help with the application --- but she might have been disappointed with your...- Thad-E-Ginathom

I just dimmed an LED using a fine felt-tip marker pen. I have covered it maybe 80%, and can see if it is red or green which is what I need, but it no longer irritates. It is directly under one corner of my monitor. It's a Faber-Castell Multimark, if anyone wants to know, but, essentially...- Thad-E-Ginathom

For "everybody," read, "Some people in America." I only came across this recently, and I was confused. I am now unconfused. It is, but although people might mention 2.1 for those desktop systems where the speakers don't work well enough by themselves, it is all stereo. I love that...- Thad-E-Ginathom

Android phones and USB DACs
In principle, no trouble with Moto X Play and OTG DAC. My GO V1 is fine, direct or via powered hub. My guess is that the problem is with Meridian --- or that it simply draws too much power for the phone. But the Geek-out is a miniature room heater, so I would think it is pretty...- Thad-E-Ginathom
