    iTunes 11 Sound Quality Sucks

You know what someone needs to do?    Create a custom iTunes, which removes any update features, removes Genius, and removes the store!   A much more minimal, much less bulky player!   That, I would donate towards.

What do you think is the best sounding player?

I *swear* I can hear a noticeable upgrade in quality when using Foobar as opposed to iTunes....but its possibly just a placebo effect.     I used to hop between players and spent countless hours testing configurations, etc.    I just went back to iTunes.    Cause for me, I just...

ALAC encoder, which one, help please?

I can whole heartedly endorse DBPoweramp for its conversion.    I have been using it for about two years now, and have no problems. Incredibly efficient and powerful, compared to having to deal with (equally good) free alternatives which just take too much time for me to either configure or...

    FLAC vs Apple LossLess

I was originally all flac, but to be honest, ALAC is just so much easier, taking out the hassle of cue and image files, and having an iPod also probably helps...   Ripping to ALAC also just seems easier to me.

My 2nd Ipod Classic HD: Rant Inbound!

I nearly traded in my iPod Classic for a Sansa Fuze or something with SD Card capability.   My advice would be don't get rid of your Classic. I've had mine for two years and its still going strong.   The best thing about my iPod is that its like carrying around a playable, portable back...

The Deals Thread (CLOSED! See the last post for the link to the new thread)

Those rocketfish headphone stands look pretty sweet.   I may have to trade in my mannequin heads with hooks drilled in the back for 1 or 2 of those.

OK, this site has convinced me to use my PC as my headphone listening source, but where do I begin? Please advise.

A DAC will bypass your PC's stock sound card anyway. And I use my PC to burn a lot of lossless CD's to experiment with on different sources. One bit of advice I can give you is not to drive yourself crazy with your music libraries. I went to Foobar, wasted way too much time configuring, and now...

    music player

+1 for Foobar.   Take some time and set it up right, and you'll be set.   Don't rush and make sure you find a theme and components that work for you, or you'll find yourself tweaking your configurations more than listening to your music. I speak from experience :)

    In-Ear Bass Earphones?

I know bose gets a lot of flak, but their in ear triports I think sound pretty decent for being a little heavy on the bass.   Now that you can get them for as low as $60 or so(rarely, during a sale), they really are not that bad of a deal. I had mine for a year and a half before they...

    IPhone Amp...which one?

I had originally went with a Total Bithead for my iPhone/iPod Classic, but overall, it is somewhat of a large little guy to be carrying around in your pocket, and it seems to pick up interference quite easily.   Looking back, I definitely would have probably went with a Fiio, but oh well...

    Bose TP1-A Cable Repair

So...   I cut off both ends completely to resolder a new neutrik plug on, but the wires are so thin, I can barley thread them through the connectors. And there are 1 or 2 stray wires here and there.   I feel as though this is much more complicated than the task actually is. After...

@imackler   The Sennheiser 280 Pro's are definitely worth it at this price(free shipping!)     These are the newer style. Worth trading in my old, bulkier HD280 Pro's for?

    Bose TP1-A Cable Repair

I recently frayed the one end of my Bose TP1's, and am wondering if there is a way to fix the cable.   The headphones work perfectly fine other than the break  in the  right cable, so I'd like to try and repair them myself, because they aren't worth a repair service.   I am completely...
