I'm with you on the DT770 Pros. I bought a pair and really wanted to like them, but found the treble to be unbearable. They sound very aggressive and shrill to me--verging on painful. Boxed them back up and sent them back almost immediately. Lots of people love them, though.

I don't know why they wouldn't these tubes were probably used in aircraft at one time or another.

What they've designed instead is the inverse of that. It's a cute transport for portable use that can also be brought home and used with your main system if that's your thing.

That's true. They clearly don't intend it to be a transport for an external DAC though.

But the toslink out would bypass the player's onboard DAC. That kind of defeats the purpose of including the Cirrus Logic flagship DAC.

It does have a 3.5mm line out which you could connect to rca inputs on an external amp.
