San Francisco meetup CONFIRMED for March 30, 2019
Ok. I think most of the interest is in the area of the GSX mk2 and utopias. I think I'll bring them and a DAC of my selection, but not the Yggdrasil. Let me know if anyone prefers the PS audio or the Holo audio. The thing that I would say about the Pure Bipolar and the GSX mk2 is that they are...- stevenator

Hi, all. I think I'll be able to make it. I have a some gear that I'm willing to bring, but I know what all of it sounds like. Let me know if you have requests. I'll just grab some stuff if no one requests anything. Here's a list: Headphones: Focal Utopia Audeze LCD-3 Beyerdyanmic T-1 (much...- stevenator

The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread
I tend to agree with Rhamnetin, that you'd get more mileage out of a second setup and that you get a lot of the way there for the cost of a Hugo TT 2. Electrostatics are nice. Of course, you'll need *two* high end DACs then. I'm sure you're aware that there are many other capable DACs out...- stevenator

The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread
At the time, I think I was listening through a Schiit Yggdrasil, using the balanced outputs. Part of the reason I mention this is that I believe the Yggdrasil has somewhat higher output than other DACs. I don't have specifics or anything at hand, but I think there's some data on this out there.- stevenator

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why R2R kind of sucks - just to get you to think about stuff)

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why R2R kind of sucks - just to get you to think about stuff)
I would describe it briefly as having a refined, digital sound. I have a DirectStream DAC, an Yggdrasil and recently acquired a Holo Spring DAC L3/KTE. In my estimation, the Yggdrasil is generally inferior the DirectStream. The Yggdrasil succeeds at retrieving details and bringing life to some...- stevenator

The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread
I'm at about 10 o'clock on medium. There are a few things that might affect comfortable listening volume though. The output on the GSX MkII, the output level of your DAC and using balanced vs. single-ended interconnects are a few. This is present in my mind as I re-terminated my Utopia's stock...- stevenator

The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread
I tend to agree with the other posters here. The Chord options are strong as portables, but I argue that you can do better for the money, especially for home use. The default recommendation of the Yggdrasil applies here. If you're willing to make a larger investment (but not Dave-level), I...- stevenator

The HeadAmp GS-X and GS-X MK2 Thread
Given the talk of the Carbon and Pure Bipolar, I think this is relevant in the GSX MkII thread. I own all three of these amps. I collected them in the same space so a friend and I could, compare listen over the weekend. I was hoping to post some thoughts on these three since I recently...- stevenator
