Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9 and ATH-ESW9A Thread
OP, this is my take on the two headphones. Take it with a grain of salt as I haven’t heard the esw9a in awhile. I do think you not need to worry as far as high and upper mids with both headphones. The esw9a is a smooth lush warm headphone with an emphasis on vocal. The smooth lush is helped...- soundeffect

Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9 and ATH-ESW9A Thread
Oops sorry for the wrong info on driver size. I haven’t been into headphone in awhile. Just saw an email that pop up saying someone post a comment. Decided to check it out. But I still don’t think on ear and full size sound the same. I agree with wood sounding headphones. Nothing wrong with...- soundeffect

Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9 and ATH-ESW9A Thread
I wouldn’t necessary say it sounds like an HD650. To me, on ears will never sound as full as full size headphones. Full size headphone has deeper cups more space and larger drivers. HD 650 is less colored but the esw9- soundeffect

Seeking Recommendations for New Headphone
Yep, it sounds like you would enjoy the HD650. Just get a good amp and dac along with it and you won't miss that much with others like HD800 or T1.- soundeffect

Your favourite "not the best" headphones?
Dt880 32 ohms with my GO450. Sounds so good. I have the HD800 which probably does sounds better, but it makes me want to just pick at the music I'm listening to. With the Dt880, I can listen to the music and just relax and enjoy. It works with all my music, movies, or whatever. This is one...- soundeffect

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80-Ohm Thread
It's not wrong name. Read the description on the link you posted, last paragraph. They say it's the exact same as the pro. Beyer seems to make some for GC with the word studio on it so their customers will know that the DT770 is a high impedance headphone.- soundeffect

The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
The only thing that bothered me with the HE500 and similar hifiman are the stupid coaxial like connectors. A pain in the butt, takes too much time to put on and off. The heavy weight wouldn't bother me much if the overall size of the cups (thickness and circumference) wasn't so large. Sound...- soundeffect

The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
I understand what you mean by saying older headphones are still competitive as a lot of older headphones are still highly praised and some consider them to be the best. I'm just saying that the reason other people classify them the way they are is accordingly to what there own maker place them...- soundeffect

The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
The hd600/650 and DT880 are called/classified as midfi because it's in the middle of the brand's Line up. You can't call a bmw 3 series a top of the line Bmw car when it's not their top of the line or a Lexus IS250, no matter how much you like it or how well it performs. It's just not a top of...- soundeffect

Schiit Fire and Save Matches! Bifrost Multibit is Here.
This is my first listening impression with bimby vs buber,it turned out well. It's hard to really tell for sure without the uber here to compare, so this is base on memory. I do believe the bimby is slightly warmer, not in a gooey way, but more of a smoother sense. This is the first thing that I...- soundeffect
