I apparently have a slight hearing issue with my left ear when compared to my right so was wondering if there was any usb dac/amp (and/or) that could help me balance the two sides. I have about a $150 or so budget but cheaper would be better.

I have heard the M Audio Q40s I believe have strong bass (as stated in this topic) but do not completely blow in all other aspects.

Im actually kinda in the same boat as you (Broke my igrados). Although my listening preferences are a bit different the AKG 181DJ (higher up version of your model and err quite a bit bigger) seems to be fairly well regarded. It does have a replaceable chord if thats the thing that keeps breaking...

ahh ok i never got a good look of em on anybody except a video of some guy on youtube putting them on =) (He had a hood on so it looked err well not that big lol) As long as both are a step up in sound quality from the igrado i guess ill be ok. Thanks

just wondering in terms of SQ, roughly how would you rate the HD25 and K181DJ you have. I have had an igrado and was thinking about moving up so was wondering how these two would compare.

Thanks for your response, yeah the Q40 did look decent but the cable failures (and read a couple cases of driver failures) has me kinda wanting something else. I appreciate your perspective on the K181DJ since I was actually about to purchase it. Some people have stated that they liked it...

Not too worried with price, I did see the ebay prices though but both are in my budget so yeah. I see people say that the AKG 181DJ is better but there really are not too many reviews on it, unlike the HD25.
