The Official Eddie Current FOUR 45 Thread

Modding an EC445 #2 with Tango IT and OPT. Travesty? Shh...dont tell Craig! Have not powered up yet, still waiting for some resistors. Did this to drive 16-ohm speakers (think the stock Cinemag is for 8-ohm only). Wish I would have a schematic due to some questionable resistor values but...

How Many Times Have Your LCD3 Headphones Been Returned to Audeze for Servicing (RMA)?

Should be 2-3 days top. Their services are excellent. The turn-around time should be quick too. Mine was a complete driver replacement, 2 wks to send and receive back.

    Denon AH-D7000

Not to rain-over-your-parade but be caution! I've done similar mod and my plugs are too long. They rub the shoulders once everything are in place, even when the head's not tilting. Shorter plugs or forward-angle (ala LCD's: drill another set of holes away from 180-deg of the headband) would...

I gravitated toward the 45 since I used mostly for headphones, not really need the extra watts. But if you're think may be both headphones and speakers, do get the 2A3, extra watts help the bass output. Yeah, do agree on the neg. feedback. Tube amp is essentially a passive device, no need for...

Just digging thru my old files and got a inner pic of the 445. The only silicon that I can see are the rectifier chips (middle boards with big caps). These are probably filament power supply: one for the 45's and the other for 5842's.

I have asked him to build the 445 and picked the amp in person. I was lucky enough to be a driving-distance to his place. Chatting with him seems like he's up to fix anything below 1000V. He told me he once was trying to fix an old Moth amp, forgot the model#, but it shocked him and knocked...

Are Denon AH-D7000 and Fostex TH-600 drivers really the same?

Seeing this https://www.ebay.com/itm/256093029357 Has anyone tried it? Wonder if this is good enough to replace the unobtainium d7000 drivers. Same seller via Aliexpress to save a few bucks.

Pi 2 Design - Mercury Streamer

Got a Jung regulator sitting around that I can use for the Mercury. But it only outputs 5-9VDC. Should be ok right? The Mercury regulates down to 5VDC, anything over ~6V should work (1V for regulation drop)? Measured the Jung regulator on my oscilloscope with 2mV resolution, can't even see...

just the AC 12V supply that came with it. Would a low noise, linear DC supply be that great of a diff.? Will try with a 12VDC battery and if greatly improved, got a Kevin Gilmore's Golden Reference power supply that I can built a box around to use.

Pi 2 Design - Mercury Streamer

Just got a V2, boot it up, and in operations. Very nice sound. Having a local NVME storage is a huge plus instead over NAS. Not a huge jump from a PC via ASIO but a huge one from PC via DirectSound/Wave. Still experimenting to see whether I can encapsulate DSD-over-PCM to send over to the...

How Many Times Have Your LCD3 Headphones Been Returned to Audeze for Servicing (RMA)?

haha...I don't even remember when I last sent 'em in. I'm about to check with Audeze account to see when was the last time (hmm...they seemed to deleted my account off their site). Got at least one replacement after 2016...doesn't seem to make a diff. though. I'm not buying that they've...

How Many Times Have Your LCD3 Headphones Been Returned to Audeze for Servicing (RMA)?

Personally, I'll cut the cost and run away...fix this time doesn't guarantee the drivers will be working after the 3-yr replacement warranty period. The cycle could be going forever! I have LCD-3 that keeps having dead-driver issue, more than all my fingers can count. One time Audeze said due...

    Audeze LCD-3 Impressions Thread

Man, that sucks that the seller is not helping you out. May be 50% refund so that you can properly fix it. Now, it is a matter if the +$500 repair price is justifiable to you (remember that this also buys you the three-year warranty). Personally, i wouldnt try to repair the cans by anyone...
