SR60-Mod
The wood shell movement is quite awesome. It's too bad that ebony is so bright sounding (well, coming from a guitar standpoint...it balances mahogany pretty well), because that would look killer.- sinistas

Comfortably Numb Live
Gilmour's solo there is incredible. His playing on that DVD might be his best, actually. -
Lets Talk Metal
I'm currently rediscovering Nahemah. It's like a mixture of black and death metal with post-rock, IMO. Great stuff. -
SR60-Mod

Bands like Tool
I second the Katatonia recommendation. Anything from Last Fair Deal on, but especially that and Viva Emptiness. -
Lets Talk Metal
Quote: They did play Set The World Afire on That One Night, although I definitely understand your larger point. -

The Exploration of Metal and Progressive Rock
Quote: After is actually my least favorite of his solo albums. Check out AngL - "The Alchemist" and "Malediction" are my favorites. "Called By The Fire" off of The Adversary is pretty killer as well. -
Lets Talk Metal
Apparently the Big Four tour is coming to the US this year. Woot. -
Blackfield 3 - Welcome to my DNA (audio clips)
I would like Blackfield 15 times more if Aviv didn't sing or write lyrics, lol. Sounds better than BFII, though. -
Recommendations for a Metalhead
And I just remembered Evergrey..."Recreation Day" and "The Inner Circle" are amazing. Although it's far more streamlined and hook-laden, I really dig "Monday Morning Apocalypse" as well. -
Recommendations for a Metalhead
Deadwing's one of my favorite albums. Had front-row, dead center seats to see them at Berklee on that tour...quite, quite expensive, but so worth it. -
Recommendations for a Metalhead
Oh, Ihsahn's solo stuff is great, too.
