Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
It’s set to fixed volume output 100%. I think there is a glitch in software when switching out puts. A reboot has cured one. I’ll check firmware and other. Thanks for the encouragement!- sickmonkey

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
#1 - Complete overhaul of my home network is complete. All CAT6e, new managed switch and UPSs redistributed. I have 8 wired connections and only 4 wireless (iPad, iPhone, Security and one SamsungTV). Lots of fun crawling under house, drilling and patching. And the results: Nothing -...- sickmonkey

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I am in this camp. I use a lot of STP in industrial environment. Shielding has to be done proper else it becomes problematic. I have to check for leaks and such. I can find > 500ma dc easily of current difference. This will get your attention. STP is necessary in this environment with 480...- sickmonkey

On the little system Kef Meta Q1. I must say the Vidar is owning them big time. This setup is physically wrong. Tv in the center and all that interference. Damn it sounds good. Very surprised at the low frequency response of the Q1s.- sickmonkey

I was as addicted to NAD as bad as now Schiit. I have had a ton. My ATF was the 317. Paired with a 214. I was driving the ML hybrids. 317 on panel and 214 on woofer. Later split out to 116 and 2 214s then C270x2 and on and on. You get the picture.- sickmonkey

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
My new Vidar 2F and Saga 2 arrived today. I think this is the first shipment split between Fedex and USPS that arrived to the shipping wasteland on schedule. The integrated will go back to closet. Midgard will go back to office desk. Modius will stay for a few weeks pending Mimir...- sickmonkey

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I received my new Modius E and Midgard ~last week for my little system. Nice combination. Then I ordered a Vidar 2F and Saga 2 for my little system. I see where this is going. Let me recover from this purchase and I will make a Mimir addition. So much for a not so little system. It...- sickmonkey

Example: I found that I could not listen to the ultra for more than twenty minutes or so. Please make it stop. This morning with my default Mac setup I listened 3 hours straight. 5-8 am. I only stopped for I need to get going for the day.- sickmonkey

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I am slowly getting my act together. I am treating streaming as old photography magazines. lots of pictures and discovering cool stuff. Looking at the mag pictures are great and then you see it in real life and wow. Example: I did not know Lenny Kravitz's dropped a new album last year...- sickmonkey

In my world, the Ultra did not sound good. it's gone. Oddly enough, the Pro sounds pretty good. It stays. I am with you, if it sounds good, especially over time, I don't care either.- sickmonkey

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
This is great to read from the point of people smarter than I are thinking this deep into the process. Much appreciated. I made a comment earlier about a Wiim Ultra sounding a bit shrilly and bright. . Not in a good way. The source files were from the same NAS going to the 384 input on...- sickmonkey

Thank You. This makes more sense. Yes, of course, you can compress an exe and uncompress have complete program, just like a word doc. I guess I was thinking more along lossy. FLAC is lossless and I should be good and accept all the data is there unaltered. I guess I have trust issues! So...- sickmonkey

Now I may need some education on this point. I want to learn. I am looking right now at Aimee Mann's 31 Today. Ripped via DBpoweramp FLAC no compression. Bit Rate is 1413kbps. File Size is 51,104 KB. If I go home and play this from Qobuz I think it will be about ~900 kbps. Maybe a...- sickmonkey

It may not be your cup of tea. I can't think of many niche products where you can get so much detailed information directly from the source. A bit of insight to their direction and thinking. Maybe that does create a Kool aid mentality. So be it. I find it quite refreshing. It seems to be...- sickmonkey
