    have you used equalizer apo with the PEACE gui and used Oratory's curves? Really makes the 58x's shine!

    I haven't tried those specifically but just listed something that came to mind that was open, that I've owned and sounds great, and was somewhat in the price range of the SPH9500s, if you consider $160 new in that range :D

    Just to be clear, I agree with you completely buke. Hope it didn't come across otherwise. I do know the ps4 can play relatively nicely with some usb dacs, perhaps the LCX is one of them. If google doesn't provide the answer then it may be worth trying out jordan. Personally I'd prioritize music...

    gotcha. one downside to that one is it has no optical input for your ps4. do you already have a dac/amp setup and just want to try balanced or are you starting from nothing? You've got 660s so I assume the former yeah?

    agreed. Is it better, subjectively to many, yes. Night and day, definitely not. Balanced is going to be more prominent over long cable runs. The real problem is, the option is there and many of us just have to poke the bear.

    Can you not dac/amp the cans and run your mic to your current sound card? That opens your options up tremendously.
