  1. Logitech vi cable for UE 900

    5.00 star(s)
Introduction –  This cable has been mentioned countless times on the internet. It`s cheap for an mmcx cable, and has a great design. There is also a model with a full 3-button remote and mic, something many manufacturers omit. These cables are available from Logitech`s US website for $20 and $30 for the remote version. Unfortunately they can only be ordered in set colours, the non-remote version is black whilst the remote cable is a vibrant blue which might be a bit garish for some.   Design –  They use a typical mmcx connector and connect...
  2. FiiO EM3 Open Earbud Earphones with In-Line Microphone (Black)

    4.00 star(s)
Introduction –  Once seen as cheap throwaways, earbuds seem to have become the new phenomenon in the audio landscape. Since they don`t produce a strong seal and have a very loose fit, they are seen as having very limited uses, but these attributes can also permit a unique sound that`s not too dissimilar from the in-ear equivalent of open back headphones. As such, we are seeing a rapid increase in the number of quality earbuds on the market, mostly from upcoming Asian brands employing innovative technologies such as hybrid driver setups commonly used...
  3. OPPO PM-3

    4.50 star(s)
Introduction –  Both Oppo and Bowers and Wilkins provide buyers with strong offerings within the under $400 USD price range. Both sport slick metal housings, closed back design and tout class leading audio performance. However while these two headphones might be similar on the spec sheet, their real world performances couldn`t be more different. This is a comparison I`ve thought up after a year of owning the P7`s and around 6 months with the PM3.   About Me – Some background, Gear of choice, Preferences and Biases I generally prefer a slight...
  4. Sennheiser IE800

    4.50 star(s)
Introduction – The ie800`s are as of March 2016, Sennheiser`s flagship iem that was designed by a small team over a period of 5 years. They were released with an absurd $1000 USD price tag that garnered much attention, but have since fallen down to as low as $550 USD. As such, they are actually one of the cheapest flagship iems, at least quite a bit cheaper than the Shure se846`s. I bought mine for the equivalent of $450 USD NIB and can confirm that they are genuine as they were replaced directly from Sennheiser about 2 year ago. I bought the...
  5. FiiO Q1 portable headphone amp & DAC

    5.00 star(s)
Introduction –  The Fiio Q1 is an entry level amp/dac, currently the cheapest in Fiio`s portable DAC lineup. It retails for $60 USD or $100 AUD and offers an affordable gateway into the world of high-fi sound. The unit features low and high gain functionality, an analogue volume pot and non-adjustable bass boost. Of note you can use the Q1 whilst charging although...
  6. Westone W30 Triple Driver Universal Fit Noise Isolating Earphones, 78503

    4.50 star(s)
So just posting this review here as the W30`s haven`t been getting a lot of attention past the initial hype. It was very difficult to decide whether or not to buy them based only on the few reviews on the internet. So for anyone interested in the W30`s, I`ve written a review on my blog that I`ll also be posting on head-fi, I hope it helps in your purchase decision, enjoy the review! Introduction -  when I first saw the W4, it blew my mind (and many others), it was the first quad ba earphone, compounding upon Westone`s success with the W3, and...
  7. Edifier USA e25 Luna Eclipse (Red)

    4.00 star(s)
Introduction –  The $200 Edifier E25`s are a dual driver Bluetooth computer speaker designed by Edifier that combine a striking design with high quality audio, all at an attainable price to the average consumer. Each speaker features a 19mm silk-dome tweeter and a 4″ midrange/bass driver complimented by two opposing passive radiators which produce an impressive 74W RMS output. In this price range, Edifier have harsh competition from the 2.1 speaker sets sold by Klipsch and Logitech, both of which can be had for the same or less than the E25`s with...
  8. Phonak Audéo PFE 232

    4.00 star(s)
Basically a great all rounder, works well with all genres and should appeal to anyone due to their balanced, slightly bassy sound sig. Bass is never muddy and details are pronounced. It`s a great sounding iem, but not suited for travel due to poor isolation. Works great for home listening and extremely comfy, almost as comfy as my Klipsch X10`s! The soundstage is expansive and has great width and good depth, but don`t lose the phonak tips; they contribute heavily to the nice highs and airy, open sound, I lost one tip and tried using fitting some sony...
