I talked to my seller (marcopoloca from ebay), and he was kind enough to email Shure Canada for me as proof of purchase. This is a year later, very grateful he did that. Shure made me a RA number, and taking it under warranty.

Hahah, wow. So there's an actual issue wiht the material. I do notice that the cable on the E4c isn't as flexy as the E3c. The part that broke is a high stress area, it's right where it curves sharply to hide behind my ear. It is one of the most oily place on my head - not that I'm an oily guy...
