PETEREK (formerly cCasperTFG) MOD & Cable Thread
They sound friggin' amazing. Compared to my Hifiman HE-500 they're a slightly bassier and a touch sibilant only at extreme volumes. They are only getting better the longer I listen to them. -
PETEREK (formerly cCasperTFG) MOD & Cable Thread
Say hello to one of PETEREK's new creations! Commissioned these from him back in mid November and just received them today. They sound absolutely fantastic and I plan on using them as a closed-back work headphone. Peterek was incredibly professional, communicative, and... -
Recommended closed-back headphones similar in sound to Hifiman HE-500?
@JoeDoe I've definitely been researching those, thanks for the tip! Do you have any links to reviews or impressions of the PETEREK modded T50RP? I found his Head-Fi profile and Etsy page but not much info aside from that.- rosenjazz

Recommended closed-back headphones similar in sound to Hifiman HE-500?
I love my Hifiman HE-500 to death but I can't bring it to work with me because it's an open-backed can. Now I'm in the market for a closed-back headphone that I will enjoy listening to for hours a day, and I want to find something that either sounds as close as possible to the HE-500 or will...- rosenjazz

UPDATE! CAPACITY RAISE! - SF meet Saturday Nov. 7th - We have a venue and date! It's really happening! CAPACITY RAISE!! WE CAN TAKE 20 MORE PEOPLE!
Just joining this thread, I'd love to attend this event! I don't usually plan out my weekends super far in advance so I'm very flexible with the meetup time, and I'm based in downtown SF so getting around the city should be no issue. Here's what I can bring: Hifiman HE-500 Apogee Duet 2...- rosenjazz

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!
Sure! He said the main goal with the Polaris is to get to a comfortable listening level on your headphones with the volume knob at around the 11 o'clock position. Given the HE-500's power needs he recommended the Low Output Resistance configuration and to go no higher than medium resistance...- rosenjazz

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!
I need to give a shoutout to Jeremy and his amazing customer service. I received my Polaris yesterday and plugged in my headphones only to discover a buzzing in the left channel and general noisiness whenever I tried to change volume. I panicked and sent him an email saying that I thought I got...- rosenjazz

Squeaky Hifiman HE-500
I just picked up a barely used pair of HE-500s today, and they sound fantastic. However, the left planar driver squeaks around the contact point of the screws on the metal holder. This video is pretty much an accurate representation of what's going on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Di9TrctaMwk...- rosenjazz

Hifiman He-400 paired up with Apogee Duet 2?
I realize an answer is probably too late at this point but this has actually been my setup for the past 2 years. Macbook Pro > Apogee Duet 2 > Hifiman HE-400. The Duet's DAC is very very good - it's dead quiet when not playing anything and detail retrieval seems to be fantastic, at least...- rosenjazz

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!
Hey guys, new to Head-Fi! I'm about to take the plunge in buying a Polaris, but I have one main question. Does Garage 1217 have a return policy for their products? I would be buying the preassembled version and not the DIY kit. I tried contacting Jeremy via the online form but he hasn't...- rosenjazz

New Member Introductions thread
Been a long time lurker but finally took the membership plunge Currently rocking a pair of Hifiman HE-400s for over-ears and RHA MA-750s for in-ears. Hoping to upgrade to a used HE-500 and get a new amp soon (I have an Apogee Duet 2 that works wonderfully as a DAC and temporary amp)- rosenjazz

Worth upgrading to HE-500 from HE-400?
I have always wanted the Hifiman HE-500s but a couple years ago I got the HE-400s due to budgetary constraints. Now that finances are better and prices have come down quite a lot since the newer models have been released I am still thinking of making the switch. Before I do anything impulsive...- rosenjazz
