New DENON "Music Maniac" & "Urban Raver" Lines: D7100, D600, D400 & C300 Impressions Thread

AH-D7100 are as good as any on iPhone or other mobile device. I also preferred it to my Grado RS1 with my iBasso DX100. Not always but generally speaking. If I recall rightly, that is it's designed purpose. IMHO it does that purpose exceedingly well. It was a rip-off to sell it at $1200 though.

I wouldn't bother with a DAC/Amp. I got fed up with the bulk of it all and a fiio E12 amp wasn't an upgrade to my iPhone 4S. Also had problems with the amp picking up interference from the phone signal. I did buy an IBasso DX100 DAP which I still use for more critical listening - mainly in bed...

New DENON "Music Maniac" & "Urban Raver" Lines: D7100, D600, D400 & C300 Impressions Thread

I've Grado RS1, Senn HD650, Beyer COP , Shure e5c, Etymotics 4rp and none sound as good on iPhone 4S than D7100. I'd even say the d7100 is also better than all my headphones on my iBasso DX100. Horses for courses but to compare HD650 to D7100 is comparing chalk and cheese. Both designed for...

New DENON "Music Maniac" & "Urban Raver" Lines: D7100, D600, D400 & C300 Impressions Thread

I've d7100 and they're superb out of iPhone or iBasso dx100. For enjoying lively music on portables I question if there is a better headphone.

Yes that's exactly what I was trying to convey - thanks and apologies for the confusion.   My point was to highlight the value of the Denons at a $600 price point - £400 in UK and was £350 over xmas. Wood enclosure which is beautifully finished, luxuary leather cups, two cables that would...

I recently upgraded my iPhone 4 to a 64gb 4s. I've noticed slightly more detail and air - seems a cleaner sound. I'm very happy with this partnership - with my 7100 - as well as with my DX100 which adds a little warmth and composure. Only went back to Novo amp one other brief time and didn't...

Flagship headphones in the killing field

My experience is top sounding/ high end headphones need to retrieve micro detail to perform at that level. . If the recording is average then the headphone will be less forgiving as it's regurgitating the garbage that a mid level headphone isn't able to see. So average recordings will be...

Flagship headphones in the killing field

I find my top-end headphones definante have the ability for better sound given the right circumstances.   If they're very bright they won't do average CDs so well and definately not the usual pop recordings.

Nice setup and not late at all.   I'm feeling similar about DX100 and D7100. Very HiFi sounding......i.e. struggling to stop listening once I start.

You also have to take into account the sensitivity of a can which is measured in db at 1khtz.  Not my area but pretty sure that's the key measurement.

Mad dog sounds like a sleepy can for me then - I find "personality" very irritating when I'm extreamly relaxed and trying to sink into a virtual comma :o)

Grace m903 via USB detects ALAC rips played with iTunes as 96htz - why

beautifully built.   Pros:   Smoother sound than usual solid state amps like Graham Slee's for example.   Loads of connections so very flexible.   Goes really well with my Grado RS1 and although early days seems very good with Denon D7100.   Fantastic support from Grace   Cons:  ...

    Denon AH-D7100

D7100 is much much better to my HD650 build wise. I'm taking into account the cans, cables, beautiful matching stand and packaging. D7100 is also better soundwise.   I found if I'm wide awake HD650 is lacking in fun and immersion and that'ss from either GS Novo amp or grace m903 - i need to...

Nice to hear your finding.   I've not spent anywhere near enough hours, only about 10,  to know for sure but I am a little suspicious that these cans might not be going well with powerful amps. This I can accept if I'm correct as it's no different to saying Senn HD650 don't go well fed...
