Comment by 'rolavine' in item 'Knowledge Zenith (KZ) ZEX'

Just got the regular KEX yesterday. I listen to classical, jazz and acoustic, and found they go well with my 70 year old, good hearing but missing some treble, ears. They are very up front and in your face with volume, but they are believable. I compared them with ATEs, and with my Sennheiser HD...

    Monster Inspiration IEM?

Follow on, the push button works with my new Nokia Windows phone, one push to stop audio and another to answer the call and one more at the end to go back to the audio. The manual says this was done to be compatible with an Iphone, but it works on my windows one.   Still like these things...

    Monster Inspiration IEM?

I bought these on sale and really like them. I looked for references to them on this site and found just about nothing. They have a very balanced tone and work well with my Classical, Jazz, Acoustic, and Folk sort of tastes. Super neutral for voice recordings, as I listen to audible enhanced...

    Do audiophiles "like" music?

I asked Orpheus what he thought of this discussion.   " Music is my life I could no more dream of not doing it than of breathing. What is love compared to this?

    MEElectronics Thread!!!

I have a-151's and found them not very interesting (no sins of commission but lots of omission), but I just got some a161's, and they are so good I'm ratting around my house looking for music that I haven't heard in years. I'm really not listening to the the IEM much at all, just through them to...

    Sansa Fuze+

My Fuze + started working really well, I think I bashed on the keypad enough while cursing at it, that it began to work really well with a light touch. I also learned to count 1001, 1002, before going for the buttons again.

    The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..

I can't believe that anyone like game music in the first place, I may be dated in my thinking but isn't it rather repetitive? For me I think that music would serve the same purpose as the Chinese Water Torture, granted an emotional response for sure!

I love classical, acoustic, and jazz so I want the sound to be as real as possible without wacky tonal extensions for the hip hop set. I have a pair of HD-580's and IMHO full sized cans sound so different from IEM's that it's like apples and oranges.  You really have to experience it! I...

I have a hypothesis that only people that can maintain an active fantasy of being on a reality TV show, can stand to watch them. To the rest of us these shows are nothing but the cheap, arbitrary, mindless, drivel they actually are. I know that may push the window of being a active participant...

Beethoven's 9th is the perfect example because there isn't any hi fi gear ever capable of delivering anything but a poor imitation of a live performance. Keep in mind the piece goes from one soft violin to a loud full symphony accompanied by a corale. I love the 9th and have several...

    Sansa Fuze+

I got one of the refurb Fuze + units and now understand the frustration expressed over the touch panel. Since I do embedded processor control as part of my day job I've been speculating why these touch controls are so slow to respond.   Speculation on my part, warning!   I think the answer...

It's amazing how much effort is going into making these pretty good cheap iem's into something better. But you do know that you can use your brain to fill in, increase reality, and get much closer to the music regardless of the hardware. I took my wife to a long wait time medical facility and...

    Best Grado Headphone..?

Me too, I have a pair of the 80's too, and can't tell the difference. My 60's are at least 15 years old and have been thrown around in my electronics lab-office for the last 10 years. They are on their 3rd set of ear pads, and they still sound great, these darn things are durable. I really...

I did some more comparison listening last night using an old Pentangle CD (acoustic jazzy folk music), and a good CD of tango music (Mi Buenos Aires Querido) with the Monoprice cheapies. The harshness I found in them initially has vanished, maybe they do need a long burn in, or maybe my...
