I only set it to 50% so I can hear the difference in the gain.  I want to reiterate that I was only asking about the gain of the amp.  Not anything else.  In other words, the volume that I set my source at is irrelevant when talking about the gain.

I understand what you are saying but I don't see how that is relevant because what I did was compare the unamped mp3 player with the mp3 player amped with the fiio.  In other words, the I am only comparing the input with the output and the output is more quiet than the input if I set the volume...

I like the invisible shield. The only thing I don't like is that it does seem to collect dust along the edges. The protection it offers is unmatched though.

I'm mainly going to be using it for outdoor...when I go camping or have bbqs. Because the S9 has the most bass, would it make the sound carry a bit better in such an open environment? Would that make it a good choice? a_tumiwa: If you could redo it, would you have bought a different model?
