Girlfriends and IEMS ... and the trouble they cause
This might sound sexist but it is based on experience. Most girls I know don't really get wowed by IEMs. For portable use they prefer something practical. Easy to take on and off, preferably not needed insertion into the brain, etc... Sure my SO likes my AKG 701 and she uses them to play WoW...- Random Access

volume on d2....
Set all effects to zero. Set volume to 4 (too loud for you) Make the EQ flat. Then EQ down on all EQ bands so you get the volume you want. That should do the trick.- Random Access

Configuring the Mac for 24-bit Audio?
The thing is that my music is on my PC so I just drag whatever folder I want to listen to over to Cog. I've always had my music in folders. My fiancee uses the iMac the most out of us and she has all her music in iTunes. And if I every really want to have my music in iTunes I could just...- Random Access

Configuring the Mac for 24-bit Audio?
Ruahrc I think that sadly you are right. I am pretty sure that Core Audio on OS X is giving us playback at 24bits by default. But at least it's not resampling 44.1 to 48 which gives a kind of muddy sound. I guess it's worth a listening test to see if any differences can be heard. Anyway...- Random Access

Deep version Darth Beyers up for sale @ headphile!
A similar pair was sold here on head-fi a while back. The original owner had bought them for 995 and sold them for 750. They were sold within 7 hours. I'm not sure as to the deal concerning Royal Mahogany vs Mahogany. In any case... since the headphile site says "my own private stock" then I...- Random Access

Configuring the Mac for 24-bit Audio?
Take a look at this: OS X Audio Playback - Setup Guide - Benchmark It will help you get familiar with the midi panel if you haven't already. My default was set at 44.1 24bit. And also give Cog a try for audio playback (flac support). Cog - News Also... are you using the built-in...- Random Access

X-Can v8 extremly 'laid back'
You would probably be better off pretending the USB isn't there. Try using it as an amp on your portable with the analog connectors. You are probably using some different playback software on it and then you just end up comparing apples to oranges. I've been sitting with my HD600 on with...- Random Access

good mp3 with Shure SE530?
I tried the iAudio D2 with my SE530 and the hiss sort of bothered me after a couple of weeks. The sound quality didn't impress me that much either. I prefered the Sony players since they were a bit punchier. iPOD Nano had very little hiss and same goes for iPOD Classic. However I did find...- Random Access

X-can v8 downgrade to IBasso D2/D3, which headphones?
I have X-Can V8 and D2 Boa. Both are great units. I haven't done that much listening with the D2 and my AKG K701 though but I have compared them briefly. The X-Can V8 with the AKG K701 sounds much more open. The sound is also a bit thinner with the D2. The D2 Boa matched really nicely with my...- Random Access

I cannot make a solid choice.... MY BRAINS HURTS
A few days ago I bought my fiancee an ipod classic 80gb for her birthday. I was really amazed at how slick it is. In Sweden you can't even buy the zune... how sick is that? The ipod classic that we have in europe is capped also so it doesn't have the same volume levels that the other models have...- Random Access

I cannot make a solid choice.... MY BRAINS HURTS
I used to have the same indecisiveness and would usually research things to death before buying them. Then when I bought them I was still unhappy because I analyzed them to death when using them. I did this with my tv, my phone, my graphics card, etc... 2 months I got as lump in my right nut...- Random Access

Just got my HD555 and I hate them!
Try the DT-770 and see if they touch your ears. Mine do not. Nor do my HD555. Though I can imagine that if I had bigger ears that the HD555 might touch my ears as the cups are more oval shaped. DT-770 will not sound better than HD555 with those setups you speak of. You AT LEAST need the X-fi...- Random Access
