If we ignore the price difference, would you pick the Saga+ or the Kara as a preamp for powered studio monitors with the Bifrost 2/64 as the DAC?

Thanks. Does the tube in the Saga+ degrade slowly over time (thus slowing degrading the sound quality over time) or is it more of a "it's working or it's not" situation? Also, how long does the tube last before it needs to be replaced?

By the way, how is the Kara?

Could someone state what the purpose of the tube in the Saga+ is? If I am not mistaken, it is used as a "buffer." Is there a difference between using a tube as a buffer (what does that mean?) vs. in some "traditional" sense?

Thanks for all the responses. With the Bifrost 2/64, and if I am talking about sound quality alone, which would be better? The Saga+ or the Midgard? Also, would either of these preamps "change" the sound quality of the Bifrost 2/64?

Between the Saga+ and Midgard, which would be better as a preamp for the Bifrost 2/64 and some JBL LSR305 studio monitors? What makes the Saga+ more expensive than the Midgard and will there be any sound quality differences?

Same here. I received my Bifrost 2/64 on April 21, 2024 and has been left powered on since. I noticed a massive improvement after 2-3 days from when I first powered it on and used it. By the way, is it true I should leave it powered on 24/7?

I've been told that studio monitors have an input impedance of, normally, 10k ohms and the Sys has an output impedance of maximum 5k ohms. They said the following: Is this true? Even the Saga+ (in passive mode) has a maximum output impedance of 4.8k ohms.

Any comments/opinions on how the RME ADI-2 DAC FS compares to the Bifrost 2/64?
