If we ignore the price difference, would you pick the Saga+ or the Kara as a preamp for powered studio monitors with the Bifrost 2/64 as the DAC?

Thanks. Does the tube in the Saga+ degrade slowly over time (thus slowing degrading the sound quality over time) or is it more of a "it's working or it's not" situation? Also, how long does the tube last before it needs to be replaced?

By the way, how is the Kara?

Could someone state what the purpose of the tube in the Saga+ is? If I am not mistaken, it is used as a "buffer." Is there a difference between using a tube as a buffer (what does that mean?) vs. in some "traditional" sense?

Same here. I received my Bifrost 2/64 on April 21, 2024 and has been left powered on since. I noticed a massive improvement after 2-3 days from when I first powered it on and used it. By the way, is it true I should leave it powered on 24/7?

I've been told that studio monitors have an input impedance of, normally, 10k ohms and the Sys has an output impedance of maximum 5k ohms. They said the following: Is this true? Even the Saga+ (in passive mode) has a maximum output impedance of 4.8k ohms.

Any comments/opinions on how the RME ADI-2 DAC FS compares to the Bifrost 2/64?

Okay, didn't know that. I am coming from desktop PCs with internal sound cards like the Titanium HD and AE-9. They let you control the volume in Windows so I was assuming a USB DAC would be the same. This is my first USB DAC.

I did some quick research and some are saying the Sys actually sounds better than the higher end Schiit preamps like the Saga but then others are saying the opposite. I'm just a little confused because of all the contradicting information I've read/seen.

What about the Chord Qutest? Does it have a volume control on macOS? Wish I had known about this volume control thing with Schiit DACs prior to buying one.

Thanks. The RCA to XLR cables from the SYS to the speakers will be 10 feet in length. I assume this won't be an issue as Schiit says to be careful with cables longer than 15 feet?
