need portable cans for acoustic music - any recommendations?

I have Panasonic SX-500 portable CD player. I listen different kinds of music: rock/pop, jazz, and classic. I use Koss PortaPro to listen rock/pop, works very well. However PortaPro is not suitable for acoustic (esp. classic) music, since it adds too much low frequencies, so something like...

    Apples iPod Mp3 player

Apple site says the transfer of the whole CD takes only 10 seconds over the Firewire. Since I have a fairly large CD collection, I wonder if it would make sense simply to rip the CD directly to this device, instead of bothering with compressing them first. 5GB should give roughly 10 CDs...

    newbie question!

some of the high-end CDPs have digital volume control, and you can hook up those directly to the power amp. then the first 'pure digital' amplifier, TACT, has its own kind of a digital volume control. hopefully this will become more common, so you will be able to eliminate the pre-amp out of the...

    Best portable CDP?

My panasonic sl-sx500 is over 3 year old and still rocks. My own complain is rather minimalistic remote, but other than that I love its sound. Rather sturdy box (alluminum top).

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon vs. Wish You Were Here

If you're curious, get 'Piper at the Gate of Dawn'. This is what Pink Floyd were *with* Syd Barrett. My personal opinion: 'Wish you were here' is their most cohesive and balanced album, probably their top. Without any fat, bloat and self-indulgence of the later albums. Don't mean to offend...

Full review of Panasonic SL-CT470A (blue version) compared to Sony D-E446CK

To Eagle_Driver, yes, CT-580 is exactly what I had in mind. Fortunately Panasonic still makes less fancy and better quality models like CT-570. Didn't have a chance to check this one, but it got some good reviews, also on epinions.

    headamp and wire remote

thanks, just after I've posted my message, I've thought about the way you've described. So apparently this is *the* only way. My CDP does have line out, so this should work.

Full review of Panasonic SL-CT470A (blue version) compared to Sony D-E446CK

Three years ago I've made a carefull evaluation of Panasonic vs Sony before choosing Panasonic SX-500. The choice was made exclusively on a basis of a sound quality. Seems like since then Panasonic made turn for the worse. They make the players smaller, so they use AAA batteries instead of...

    headamp and wire remote

If you have a headamp between a wire remote and a CDP, will wire remote work? That is, you have Headphones -> plugged into a wire remote -> plugged into portable CDP. and now you put Headamp in between: Headphones -> plugged into a wire remote -> plugged into Headamp -> plugged into...

corda crossfeed feature - has anyone tried it?

Thanks for all the replies, folks. To chych: Yes, the Beatles recordings (at least some of them) give the more pronounced 'oink-oink' effect. No someone has mentioned that Headroom headamps also have crossfeed. Funny, I couldn't find any information on their site. Can anyone tell what are...

corda crossfeed feature - has anyone tried it?

I've been listening some CDs with 'perfect channel separation' so to speak, via headphones, and - well - yes, it is so unnatural when suddenly you have a complete silence in one ear (is there something wrong with my headphones or my ear got clogged?), so I wonder if crossfeed feature such as the...

    recomendations: headphones for 'active listening'

I used to have one of the first Sony 'behind the ears' headphones and my earlobes just kept hurting. I was sooo happy when they've died in a couple of month ... Then I got PortaPro which I could wear for hours with no problems. But I still would want to try something of a higher quality...
