Cowon S9 or Apple I-Pod Touch G2
I must say the Ipod Touch 2G is a neat device. I use it as a portable player and as control using iPeng for my Squeezebox and it works great. As for the comments regarding problems playing ALAC files, I play ALAC files on my iPod touch 2G and iPod Nano 4G and they play with no problem...- pichonCalavera

The squeezebox would be good if you plan on using it as your main music playback source (it has it's own software for music playback). Parasound Zamp v.3 goodness
Same opinion here, I use my Zpre2 to drive my headphones, and they get the job done pretty good, and to top it off, you can use the remote control to adjust the volume from a distance -

Blu-Ray is dead?
For me, DVD is good enough for the time being, even tough I've seen Blue ray discs in action and they look better than standard DVD's. DVD is cheaper, video quality is great enough, and most importantly it already has an immense library of movies, TV shows, and music concerts... even more than...- pichonCalavera
