Looking for a similar sound to the Sony MDR-7506 but with a little more low end. Preferrably AKG.

I've been using my set of MDRs for the past 4 or 5 years now but I think it's time to move on. They are primarily used for music production and occasional listening. The neutrality is great for production but they are more of a contrast to my KRK studio monitors so I'm looking for something that...

    Products that last forever

Drum cymbals. Like a good pair of phones being burned in, they too must be broken-in and only increase in sound quality with age. As long as you're not a fanatical rock drummer it's very likely that they will last your entire lifetime.   I also have a JVC portable CD player that is like over...

Looking for more oomph...AKG in mind.

Hey guys I need some quick recommendations.   I'm currently on a pair of Sony MDR-7506 cans and am looking for something with more punch and volume, but not overpowering of the mids or highs in the slightest degree(WITHOUT the need for an amp!)   I've heard nothing but good things about...

    Grado's any good for hip-hop?

After hearing that huge bass In the denon's I'm just really turned off by it period. I know all the phones I'm looking at aren't going to have zero bass so it's okay if a pair is lacking a little, because I hate too much of it(bass). I think I might go for some low budget grados for listening...

    Grado's any good for hip-hop?

Yeah, I looked it up but I just decided against it. I mean I don't want to have to go out and buy all these supplies to make something sound "right", know what I mean? Hearing them for 5 minutes just opened up a whole world, again. I mean I'm just stuck and confused now. It's like I need a set...

    Grado's any good for hip-hop?

Wow, I gave the Denon2000s a try and I was disgusted. The bass was so in my face that it literally hurt, I gotta take them back. Overall it felt like my head was in a pressure chamber, maybe I should look at opened back cans? I'm really new to all of this =(

    Grado's any good for hip-hop?

Okay I think I'm finally winding down and I just want to get this over with. The denon 2000's sound very promising, but they don't have overpowering bass? I just want to make sure I get the full spectrum on an even keel and not too much bass. Thanks a lot, I promise I'll leave you guys alone...

    Grado's any good for hip-hop?

Yea I do have lots of live instrumentation like erykah badu and the roots etc. but it's really hard to come by these days, most of my albums are just production sound, not live. Thanks for the recs. I just kinda got caught up by the whole grado love, they sound like a real genuine set of people.

    Grado's any good for hip-hop?

thanks a lot joel I'll look into it. And you're exactly right: I love to dig into the tracks and discover some of the little secrets of production. Granted I get the MPC I'll mostly sampling vinyls and i'm sure these headphones you recommend would be perfectly suited for that also.

    Grado's any good for hip-hop?

Thanks a lot for all your help guys. I want to get serious about producing. I kind of have been semi-serious, starting off on the software side but it just gets on my nerves. I'm ready to go hands on.

    Grado's any good for hip-hop?

Sorry guys, I've been doing tons and tons of research all over and I came across a couple similar threads on this subject but I'm just totally overwhelmed: I've never bought a set of high end headphones. The type of Hip Hop I listen to is mostly oldschool stuff like Q-Tip/Tribe Called Quest...
