I've got the stock cable for my hd800s and due to excessive use over the years, one of  the cables has been damaged near the connector. The plastic surrounding the wires has split and the sound cuts on and off (more off than on at the moment), so I was wondering how difficult it would be to cut...

If you're going to get the HD800 in the future and don't need one asap, I would definitely wait until the Sennheiser HDVD800 amplifier is released (even though the price should be around €1500 iirc).  

I can't listen to my customs in bed unless I place my head carefully in a way that I don't lose my seal, so don't assume customs will solve the problem.

So much for the build quality of the cable. Soldering must have broke, because I just lost my left channel and when I fiddle with the cord near the 3.5mm connector, I sometimes get it back. **** it, I'm done with this ****.

Be careful when you clean them. Mine sort of cracked to the point where a very small piece of acrylic (0.5mm x 0.5mm) at the very end of the nozzle broke off and left two 3mm or so long cracks that extend almost all the way down to where the bigger drilled hole stops. I didn't even notice that...

Check my signature to see what I'm running it with. I'm not running it out of my iphone, I'm saying that when I do, I would find it hard to distinguish them during a blind test.
