So I just bought some sony MDR-v600's
Oy, they're not THAT bad. They ain't worth a hundred bucks though. I've spent a lot of time with both the V6 and the V600s and I will say that, although the V6s are "better" in terms of low end and mid definition I find the highs to be hyped and fatiguing. Perfect for all those deaf pros working...- Ohoen

listening room
I have a pair of Ethan Winer's MiniTraps and just two (one in the corner behind each monitor) made a noticeable difference. My mixes tended to be very muddy because of cancellation below 250hz. I couldn't hear this until I auditioned them in other rooms. Now I can. I plan on getting a couple...- Ohoen

Studio Monitors for production...advice?
Try searching www.gearslutz.com or www.prosoundweb.com/forums/ especially Harvey Gerst's forum on the REP. I have the Alesis powered Monitor Ones and I'm satisfied with them for $400. I have also heard good things about the Blue Sky stuff but haven't had a listen. My advice would be to spend as... -
What is THE BEST RECORDED DISC YOU OWN !!!!!
Lyle Lovett "Joshua Judges Ruth" Jack Johnson "Brushfire Fairytales" I'd also list a few PF albums but I have a hard time really concentrating on the recording cause the music is so good. -
Turntable to complement a Bel Canto DAC2
I'm enjoying my modded (acrylic platter/Heavyweight counterweight) Moth Alamo (Rega P2 Clone) with electronic stuff. I'm using a Shure V15 cart. If I were going to patiently save up, though, I'd probably be thinking hard about the Scout and I'd spend a lot of time auditioning different...- Ohoen

Troubleshooting pops from m-audio revo
They are back... don't know why don't know how but I started noticing them again a while ago. So now I'm going nuts trying to figure this out. I've read the other thread linked above and I've read the stuff at HydrogenAudio. Now I'm trying to eliminate IRQ conflicts. The card is on IRQ 9 and so...- Ohoen

Vinyl - Mini Reviews Sticky? : Contribute
Just to quickly follow up, the Earmark re-issue of Black Sabbath's "Master of Reality" is excellent. There is very little surface noise. I won't go into any more detail because I don't have any other copies to compare it to, but I'm very happy. -

Dark Electronic
I really enjoy the electronic music threads here. So let's have another! Calling for Dark electronic of all persuasions. No restrictions here, trance, house, DnB, IDM, Industrial, whatever. It just has to be mean and depression or fear-inducing. Edit: Please list sources for more obscure... -
Electronica Sub-Genres... ?
That guide is pretty funny. On top of the above I'll recommend the obvious, the Chemical Brothers. You might also like Cirrus. Don't be overwhelmed by all the sub-genres. I won't say they're totally arbitrary but for someone just getting interested in electronic music they're mostly useless at... -
