You can e-mail someone at Beyerdynamic and buy a DT770 snap-on headband via an online order form or fax. For the earpads your best option is probably getting some Sennheiser HD414 pads. If you don't like how they sound stock, you can quarter-mod them.

I didn't feel there was a worthwhile upgrade in sound quality when getting a better amp for the SR225i's. I went the tube route hoping to tame some of the sibilance, but they ended up sounding basically the same. I'd say go cans first.

I don't know about Sennheiser prices outside of the USA. I know that Grado costs are absurd, though. I'd be very curious to hear your impressions of the DTX900's if you decide to buy them.

Ah - I apologize for posting old info then. Every time I went on B&H before they were always sold out of all 600ohm headphones.

Right now B&H is selling the 600ohm 2005 version of the DT990's for $237 shipped. I saw that this deal has existed before, and it seems they recently reinstated it. I bought a pair myself - it's actually cheaper than their 250ohm ones right now! Enjoy.

Super fi 5 pros a few years ago. I listened to them with low quality mp3's on my zune and was never impressed. They broke a year after I bought them... Grado SR225i hurt my ears. A lot. Found out I like warmer + laid back cans.
