Is it possible to mod iPod nano 3rd gen for extra storage?

I haven't been able to do it, sorry. I think I'll just have to put up with a physically larger player in order to have more storage space along with good navigation features.

How far can EQ really go towards truly equalizing headphones?

Some of my earlier comments on square waves might be misguided -- check out this link http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/presto-change-o-measurement-transformations-page-2 Apparently, square waves response can be predicted pretty accurately just based on frequency response. I had thought it...

Good headphones in the 100-200 dollar price range

I'm not sure if you can get them at Best Buy, but the V Moda M 80 is a great headphone in that price range. If you wait around a while, you can find a really good price for them on eBay. I listen to rock and metal on them all the time, and the bass is very good.

    Audeze LCD-2 wood types

Could somebody quantify the extent to which the redwood and the bamboo are prone to cracking? Like what percentage of redwood owners experience cracking, vs what percentage of bamboo owners? Also, is the bamboo significantly lighter weight?

Line out dock vs. headphone out

Ah, that makes sense, I think.

Is it possible to mod iPod nano 3rd gen for extra storage?

I have a Sansa Fuze with 40 GB storage, and I'm aware that other digital players exist. It's not a matter of the price. It's just that I really like the user interface software and form factor of the iPod Nano 3rd gen. (and yes, I have tried Rockbox) But I don't know the first thing about...

Line out dock vs. headphone out

What you said about amplifying noise twice doesn't really make sense. What matter should be the degree to which the noise is amplified, not the number of times it is amplified.

Line out dock vs. headphone out

Why does daisy chaining amplifiers produce noise?     The amazon reviewer whom I linked (just now I changed the link in my original post, original link pointed to the wrong place) claims that using an LOD does not actually bypass the iPod amp. I guess he is just flat out wrong. I looked at...

Line out dock vs. headphone out

So, a lot of people on head-fi seem to say that plugging an amp in through a line-out dock of an iPod/iPhone will give better results than using the headphone out. Is there any scientific basis for this claim ? In what way is the signal processed differently?   Amazon reviewer SRH thinks...

Is it possible to mod iPod nano 3rd gen for extra storage?

Is there any way to mod the 3rd generation iPod nano so as to install additional storage capacity?  Obviously, Apple intends that this can't be done, but it seems like it would be pretty straightforward to just crack it open and replace the memory chip with a higher-capacity one.

what makes some amp better than others?

So, in order to hit its maximum rated wattage output, does an amp have to be set to the highest gain level?   For instance, suppose we calculated, with calculations similar to the ones a few posts up, that a particular amp with a particular headphone will start clipping at 110 dB. The...

what makes some amp better than others?

Is there a difference between boosting the gain vs just turning up the volume setting on the amp, in terms of what happens physically?

what makes some amp better than others?

Are there frequency response graphs for amps posted anywhere?   And are you saying that if the output voltage or output current is too high it can lead to trouble? How?

Portable amps with features similar to E17 (digital volume control, EQ)

I like many of the features of the E17 amp -- digital control, and EQ for bass and treble. The reason why I like the EQ should be obvious -- more control over the sound of my music. I like the digital control because it makes it harder to accidentally turn the volume way up while the thing is in...

what makes some amp better than others?

@jcx I see, so the same equations should work for calculating the power output of any amp at a given resistance, if two values are already given to allow us to solve two simultaneous equations. I was confused because you mentioned the op amp specs in the same post where you first gave the...
