    The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP

EDIT: Wow. I never actually noticed that little nut in the bottom right corner of the 'now playing' screen. Should've done the tutorial. I probably flashed Listrid correctly 6 times without knowing it.

    The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP

Just got my AK100 in the mail yesterday. Can someone send me a working link to listrid 2.0? I tried flashing the dropbox file, no dice. It stayed at the stock firmware somehow. Also these naver links aren't working for me.

What was your first headphone purchase after coming to Head-Fi?

    Pre head-fi: Beats Studio, now a nice hefty paperweight   Post head-fi: ATH-ES10, RE-ZERO, RE-0, RE-400   Next: HE-400

    The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP

Would anyone with the AK100 actually recommend the volume protector? It seems redundant. I really hate the way the AK120's volume knob looks. It kills an otherwise beautiful player in my opinion.

HiFiMAN x AC Gears Retail Launch and Headphone Meet in NYC

Quote:   I thought this was a typo, I just learned of the RE-400 a few weeks ago. Fang mustn't sleep very much. How is it that I lose my dedicated DAP right when the opportunity to demo the HE 400-600 comes around?   If anyone coming has an AK100/RWAK100 and would let me demo it...

    The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP

How well does the AK100 pick up tags for FLAC files? With the HM-601 I found that I had to manually tag all of my music before putting it on there; else it wouldn't get the metadata right.   When you scroll through songs, does the UI show the song title or the file name?     What I mean...

HiFiMAN x AC Gears Retail Launch and Headphone Meet in NYC

Yes! Will definitely be in attendance.   Ironically, I lost my 601 Slim along with my RE-ZEROs just yesterday. Perhaps I'll restock.

    The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP

My HM-601 just stopped charging last night. It's on its last legs and with the AK100 now availbile for $550-$700 with new firmware that enables gapless playback, I am seriously tempted. Has anyone run into issues with the output impedance?   I'd be pairing it primarily with ATH-ES10, and...

    <Renewed at 2012/03/12>The new HiFiMAN 802 & New UI named "Tai-Chi"

As a more than happy 601 owner, I am glad I cannot afford this space brick.   I don't understand how so many users actually like this in terms of aesthetics; it is hideous. As with any HM owner I'm sure, form never takes precedence over function when it comes to a DAP- but form does matter...

Receiver reccomendations for Monitor Audio Bronze BX2

Quote:   How lightly would you say you're using the word "need"? I'm not totally against paying $60 for a cable IF it will make an audible difference. Assuming every other component was the same, would you confidently say you could distinguish the sound produced by a Mogami cable from say...

Receiver reccomendations for Monitor Audio Bronze BX2

I went with the Onkyo 509. It was $205 new, opened, so they had to sell it as used. I couldn't pass up the deal and the thing gets pretty rave reviews- I've seen threads just for owners of this receiver so hopefully it all works out well. Now all I need is a 3.5 - RCA cable for my HiFiMAN line...

Receiver reccomendations for Monitor Audio Bronze BX2

Cosmophonic Sound.   It's a great family-run business on 1st ave near 84th street. It's also the only authorized dealer of Monitor Audio products in NYC that you can go to without an appointment. I think I'm going back to pick up my pair from them today. Monitor Audio is so much cheaper in...

Receiver reccomendations for Monitor Audio Bronze BX2

I have. It's not that I don't know where to look. I came here because I was hoping someone would recommend a receiver in my price range that he or she could, personally, attest for. I appreciate your effort though.

Receiver reccomendations for Monitor Audio Bronze BX2

The room I auditioned them in was pretty small (I wouldn't say more than 15' x 12') and they were right up against a wall on a bookshelf. From what I understand, typically that's not ideal for bass production. (Right?) But they didn't seem bothered. I certainly didn't find them offensive at that...
