Hi FumblingFoo, I've looked up a couple of the units you recommended, and they are both DAC/Amps. To be clear, I am only after an amp. The input will most likely be a 3.5mm or maybe 6.25mm jack. I am not interested in better audio quality so much as volume.

I've used the Fostex headphones for casual listening for a number of years, but only recently started using them while playing live music and found the volume wanting. I'm not after an expensive amp, just something that will do the job. I don't particularly mind if it's a portable amp or not...

Ok, thanks. They're the T20RP Mk II (yes, I know, they have a bad rep). There are a couple of local places which may stock Fostex (not sure)... failing that, is there anywhere I could buy them online?   How do the 840 pads compare?

I've done a bit of research but haven't been able to uncover too much information about these phones. My pads are several years old and have gone flaky, so I'm looking for something to replace them with. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance..
