I can recommend the Rega P1 TT i have this one myself and i am very pleased. Its out of your price range new. But maybe you can get your hands on a used one one. I replaced the original pickup with a Ortofon 2M Blue pickup and it sounds great.

I got myself a Lenovo G550 and thought that it would be a great laptop.... But it's not. Its horrible. It works but thats about it. The headphone out has an intense hissing when in use :(

If possible, I would try to make my own custom eq setup. I know some portable payers wont let you do that. But i think some of the preset eq's are adding to the frequencies not removing and that could have a negative effect on the sound output. In the end you have to make up your own opinion...

I have not heard this unit myself but i hear great things about the Zero Dac sound. It cost about 150$ last time i looked so you'l have some money left over for new music :)
