Would a loseless digital rip of vinyl sound exactly the same?
Cheers, this is what I gather. I'm not really a collectables person so the records won't hold that attraction for me either. Spending large on really good speakers / amp seems like the better use of money right now. It's funny because I can see CDs making a big comeback in 10 or 20 years too...- Narc

Would a loseless digital rip of vinyl sound exactly the same?
Good to know someone has extensive experience of these sound comparisons. Yes, I had considered the difficulty in obtaining high quality vinyl rips and the variability here may not make it worth that gnawing feeling that it doesn't quite sound as it should. In reference to your other point, I...- Narc

Would a loseless digital rip of vinyl sound exactly the same?
I have listened to vinyl and digital recordings side by side through the same amp and speakers and they certainly sound different - the vinyl sound is more pleasing to my ears. I've read a fair bit about the vinyl vs digital 'debate' and my conclusions are that there is no technical superiority...- Narc

What are replacement for ATH-CK10 ?
Cheers for the info man. Just a few more question based off of that. Is there enough of an improvement over the Blessing to warrant the extra bucks that the UE18+ V2 will take? Don't have a problem throwing down the $1K for it but just wondering what you think. I'm actually tempted to take...- Narc

What are replacement for ATH-CK10 ?
Cheers. I remember reading a couple reviews and head-fi threads about the CK100 years ago that put me off them. Can't remember why but I'll check them out. The most important aspect of the CK10 for me is the treble sparkle. I didn't mind the inferior bass (though appreciated the punchy, fast...- Narc

What are replacement for ATH-CK10 ?
Hey man, interested to know if you have modified your CK10 replacement preference over the last 10 years? I'm a big fan and unfortunately my last pair bit the dust recently and I'm looking for another IEM (or even headphone, it doesn't mater) that can provide a close likeness of the CK10 sound...- Narc

Help with ATH-CK10 in ear monitor re-cabling or self repair
Yes, unfortunately they are not detachable. My soldering skills are decent, it's just that I'll need to cut open the housing to get at the cables. I might try and do this after leaving this thread going for a couple days. I don't really have many more options other than getting a pro to do it...- Narc

Help with ATH-CK10 in ear monitor re-cabling or self repair
My beloved CK10s have bit the dust but I still hold out hopes of fixing them. They are discontinued and no new pairs available. The left monitor was choppy for a while, but could be corrected by fiddling with the cable at the monitor head, strongly suggesting that the issue was a faulty wire...- Narc

IEM Repair Bay Area?
Anyone have a good recommendation for IEM repair in the Bay Area or beyond? I've a set of Audio Technica CK10's that are now low on volume on one monitor only. It's not the jack as I've replaced/tested that. Seems to be an issue with the actual monitor and I may have yanked and thus displaced...- Narc

Sony PHA-1 portable DAC/amp
Quote: I agree that when the situation arises, a standalone AMP/DAC will be necessary but that time is down the road. At the moment though I've a coupe of easy to drive, high quality IEMs (ATH-CK10 and Westone 4R) and when my trusty Sony NWZ-A729 bites the dust, which will be soon by the...- Narc
