    Hifiman Ananda

I just ordered the Loki mini plus. I love the Ananda but just want to play around with the bass on some EDM tracks. For burn in , I played white noise for a couple days through the cans and they did sound better and less congested afterward. On a separate note, has anyone tried removing the...

    Hifiman Ananda

Hi everyone. So I’ve had the Ananda headphones for two months now and am loving them. Has anyone tried modifying the ear pads ? I found a simple modification that really improved my listening experience and I’d like to share it. I used 1/4 weather striping which is only $2 at Lowe’s or Home...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

I heard a very exciting rendition of Tchaikovsky's second symphony last weekby the Florida Orchestra here in Tampa. This week they are doing his piano concerto no.1  with pianist Vadym Kholodenko, a Van Cliburn competition winner, and I am just giddy to hear it !    BTW has anyone heard...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

Thank you for the clarification ! I havn't had to look at other computer specs for 10 years now, so I was out of the loop on that. As an aside, I assume all three inputs on the Schiit DACs are equal in quality as long as there is "perfect" output from a given server.   I personally like the...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

I hope someone could clear up some confusion I have about s/pdif, usb and converters between them. I have a 2007 macbook pro with an SSD. I use toslink out to my bimby and also sometimes use usb with wryd. I thought most other computers have toslink too, so why use a usb/toslink or usb/whatever...

Does anyone have experience with the Kef LS50?

According to the KEF white paper for the LS50, the company uses film capacitors.

Does anyone have experience with the Kef LS50?

Here are some pictures as request by a couple people. You can see where I replaced the white ceramic resistors with the 1% Mill resistors, not that brand of resistors matters much, it's easy if you know how to solder. The crossover boards are held in place by a jagged...

Does anyone have experience with the Kef LS50?

If you're willing to take off the rubber caps glued on to the back, the speakers are rather easy to open up. The front baffle is a composite material that is still resonant more so than the heavy cabinet. Place your hand on the baffle and then the cabinet and you can confirm this. What I did was...

Does anyone have experience with the Kef LS50?

I got a fantastic deal on a new pair of LS50's for $1,000 ! I went from using an Emotiva XPA200 to using the Ragnarok and the Ragnarok sounds much better. I say that because each general frequency band seems to better amplified together more evenly. Also I noticed that with the Ragnarok the bass...

Schiit Fire and Save Matches! Bifrost Multibit is Here.

Quote:     This is so true. I've been a musician on several instruments in various orchestras and bands since I was ten years old, the following is my 2 cents: The fact of the matter is that musicians literally live in the kind of acoustic world that audiophiles try endlessly to recreate...

Schiit Fire and Save Matches! Bifrost Multibit is Here.

I received my Multifrost on Monday here in the U.S. and have the same issue. My buzzing sound sometimes happens only when switching to music files of different sampling rates. When I push the input option button, it goes away. I emailed Schiit today and will see what they say about it. Other...

    Best classical recordings...ever!

I found this recording, which I love, of Perlman playing the partitia no.2 in it's entirety for the BBC, and you get video of him as well !  I think it's the most natural interpretation I have ever heard.   <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KpYUaRg0aDw"...

    Best classical recordings...ever!

I was about to recommend some of Trevor Pinnock's stuff before I read the other half of your comment lol. His Brandenburg Concerti are interesting recordings, may not be for everyone though. I agree his Mozart is pretty much on point.
