SONY IER-Z1R
Many factors such as one's perception of hearing, shape of their canal, and even their music can be reasons why people think the Z1R's treble is hot. That being said, for my music which is nearly all female kpop and jpop, the Z1R is celestial in its sonic properties. The only issue I have with...- MrThorium

Aminus hates everything (Or, Aminus rants and reviews stuff)
Animus, I was just wondering what you think of the ER4P since you seem very experienced with IEMs. You see, I've been out of the audio world for quite some time until recently. The last IEM I owned was the ER4P back in 2008 and I thought it was good at the time. As you know, I have a Viento-B...- MrThorium

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)
I can't speak about the A12 as I own the A12T and had demo'd the U12T. In my experience, no. The Viento-B treble is quite good and lacks the harshness of the A12T. I think the harshness you may be experiencing can be due to that peak around 5k. I found the U12T to be a tad bit brighter than the...- MrThorium

64 Audio A12t/U12t Impressions
I've read about the issues with 64Audio and the variation in sound between the A12T and U12T. I've compared my A12T to a U12T and for my personal A12T, I think it has a little bit more bass while the treble isn't as bright. I've demo'd quite a bit of other IEMs and I can see why 64Audio's...- MrThorium

flinkenick's 17 Flagship IEM Shootout Thread (and general high-end portable audio discussion)
So I've been out of the IEM game for quite some time but recently got back in. The last thing I owned was the ER4P back in 2008 which I thought sounded amazing at the time. I've recently got back into audio world and I've spent hours in the audio store. Even the workers know me when they see my...- MrThorium

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)
The IER-M9 is very good as an IEM but I just don't think it makes sense, especially when the Viento-B is the same price and you can get it in custom for about $50 more. I've taken my kpop friends to the audio store and they agreed with me that the Viento-B is probably one of the greatest IEMs...- MrThorium

crinacle's IEM Ranking List
Crinacle, I just want to thank you for doing such a great job with graphing these IEMs and providing a ranking to them. Through that, I was able to skip through the cheaper options and jump straight to the top thereby saving money. Fortunately, being based out of Korea I was able to audition...- MrThorium

Campfire Solaris vs Andromeda
Viento-B has more subbass than the Solaris while the Solaris will have more midbass. The other Viento's don't have as much bass as the Viento-B. Solaris bass was average to me. It has a dynamic driver, but it sounds more like BA bass. I would even say that the A12T bests the Solaris in bass...- MrThorium

Campfire Solaris vs Andromeda
Yes, Viento-B is also available in universal shape from Hidition. I didn't consider it though as I only wear customs and the mark up from universal shape to customs was very cheap. IIRC, it was about $50 USD- MrThorium

Anyone else dip their toes in Chi-fi and have never looked back?
So I've tried what many consider the top "Chi-Fi", the QDC Anole VX. It is an S-rank IEM by Crinacle. In addition to that, I have tried all the other S-rank IEMs. In my experience, I did not like the QDC Anole VX. While very detailed with top tier resolution, its timbre suffered compared to the...- MrThorium

SONY IER-Z1R
Was it one of the Linum cables? Do you feel that it changed the sound signature of the IER-Z1R? Do you think it'd be a good match for my Viento-B or A12T? I love the Z1R but unfortunately they don't make it in custom and I only wear CIEMs- MrThorium

Campfire Solaris vs Andromeda
As someone who has listened to both the Andromeda and Solaris, I prefer the Andromeda. The Solaris has a scooped out upper mids that tend to sound odd tonally. As a result, the female vocals in the music I listen to, which is mainly Jpop and Kpop, do not sound right. The Andromeda has a nice...- MrThorium

SONY IER-Z1R
While the Sony case is nice, I do prefer the Dignis Arcas for my IEMs. It is a high quality leather case that feels premium and matches my use case, which is not being too bulky like Pelicans- MrThorium

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)
As somebody who has spent quite a bit of time auditioning various IEMs, including the Hidtion Violet and Tia Fourte, I've decided that the best sounding IEMs at least for my genres, which are 99% female Kpop and Jpop, are the IER-Z1R, A12T, and Viento-B. The issue with the IER-Z1R is that it did...- MrThorium
